i worked today... and i work in retail... i only work two days a week so i don't complain much about it, but i swear to god that the STUPIDEST customers ALWAYS come in while i'm working. i generally like to think i have a lot of patience i mean i grew up with three younger brothers and two overbearing and controlling parents so patience i have a lot of but 8 hours at work and a vicodin and vodka barely calm me down. it's probably not healthy for me, but they allow my hours so i put up with it.

dude, it never fails, at the very last possible 5 minutes that our store closes, some ass-hole walks in damn well knowing we're closing in 2 minutes decides they want to upgrade his phone or has some bs billing issue. happened to me 3 days in a role this week.

but in retail you can expect someone to ask you a billion questions and still not understand you. :soapbox:

but in retail you can expect someone to ask you a billion questions and still not understand you. :soapbox:

if i'm lucky it's only a billion. i mean i sell bikes. how hard is it to understand that if one costs more than the other it has better components? i mean jesus chryst, that bike costs 150 and this is 250 this has better components. I drive a 17,000 dollar VW versus a 12,000 dollar honda because it has better components.

OH anyone whose been to sport chalet knows that we sell car racks and accessories for that. this guy comes in with a 2006 range rover sport (you know the supercharged bad ass one) and he asked for skies. and i looked in the guide for Yakima and Thule and both say "no-fit" and i turned to him and said sorry they don't make anything for your car. and he replied what? i don't understand how do they not make anything for my car............ my face was red at this point. i was thinking to myself 'you just spent near 100K on an all wheel drive supercharged high performance SUV that has 22 inch rims on it. you are well appointed leather seats navigation, head rest TVs, it doesn't come with factory racks, it doesn't even have a trailer hitch and you want to take this luxury SUV up to the mountains? did i miss something? what happened to taking the wifes minivan?' i almost went off on him about this but the manager was right there so i was biting my lip to keep it in.

OH and how about those people that see you standing outside the doors waiting for the manager to let you in to open that pull up and ask if you are open....... "yes sunshine we just ALL decided to come outside for a morning breather" she left

i can go on. but i'm sure you don't want to hear about it.

ps if a sales man is giving you a hard time it's because you have been told what you wanted to know and you are refusing to accept it. anyone in retail knows what i'm talking about

night!

oh yeah, the other day i have this conversation with a customer instore.

me: how can i help you?
cust: i have an issue with my phone. i think i need a new battery.
me: ok, does your phone not charge?
cust: well, when im on the phone, all of a sudden the other person isnt there anymore.
me: ok, so then you're just dropping calls?
cust: umm, i dont understand (keep in mind she is not foreign, she about mid 40's and speaks english)
me: okay, so is your phone powering off?
cust: huh?
me: does your phone power off?
cust: i dont understand.
me: okay, umm, is does your phone turn off on its own while you're on a call?
cust: i still dont understand you.
me: *sigh*
cust: *confused look*
me: okay, okay.. when you're on a phone call, does the phone hang up on your call, or is it turning off on its own?
cust: umm, i don't know
me: okay, how about i just make you a ticket for the technicial and you come back to the store in one hour. i will just tell him your phone powers off randomly and that you're dropping calls.
cust: umm
me: *cuts her off before you says anything else* okay, here you go, just sign here on the line. you have insurance, so there will not be a charge for the service. check in with the host up front or they might send you to the express lane, you don't need to see me when you get back, this way you're in n out. have a good day!

honestly, this conversation went on for 5 minutes straight, we have a virtual que in the store, and after she left, it said 6 minutes went (one minute wasnt conversation)

and maybe 10 minutes before she came back, i went to lunch heh..

that's pretty good, well bad or just really annoying. he's my personal favorite so far

We have a phone system at work that allows you to punch through menus to get the department you want. (as most companies do) so this customer calls our phone system, punches to the departments menu, waits for the biked department (which is number 8 if i remember correctly) and presses it. i answer the phone:

Me: bike department this is spencer how may i help you
cust: do you guys sell bikes?
me:.....
me: not today sir, but if you call back tomorrow we might have some.
cust: i see ok thank you.
