I just bought some used but in really good condition oem prjector hids for my girlfriends golf. When running the daytime running lights, the right headlight flickers and i have to turn on the headlights, then turn them off to get them to stop. It was becoming a problem because i would forget to do this and the light would flicker all the time. Some guy actually thought this was cool and wanted me to do it to his. anyway, I disabled the day time running lights and upon startup, the right side flickers a couple times before it steadied. I checked all the connections and made shure that the connectors were on good and not corroded. I was wondering if anyone had this issue and what did you do about it. Im going to check the resistance in the wires when i dont feel lazy. Thanks

it has to do with the pulsating from the alternator. at my last job, we were upgrading the headlights on the mustangs with a set of HIDs and the would both flicker whenever we turned them on. something about the fact that the alternator doesn't push a constant stream of power to the battery, it only charges the battery when it needs the extra little bit. we put a capacitor inline to the head light and it fixed the problem. i don't know if that would work for you though.

thanks, i will look into that. I still think its a combination on high resistance and maybe daytimes require less amperage than just having your headlights on. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the oem projectors?

:)
Capacitor should do the trick.

My driver side helix projectors with HID's flicker for 3-4 seconds too then stops. It hasn't always done this either. I wouldn't call it a flicker either (it's not like mine turn on and off real quick) it's more like the light is spazing... :o
