hi, im new to socal euro. i should introduce myself first, but im kinda in a dilemna and need the strut spreader tool for the MKIV. If anyone in san diego, preferably del mar/carmel valley has one they are willing to let me borrow, plase respond asap to Nick at 8586032717 or on this forum. thank you and ill introduce a lil later

worst case scenario, get a flat head and use that

you can always get a tool from the stealership or from www.parts4vws.com

or you can be ghetto like and get a 1/4in 8mm or 9mm allen key socket and grind down the sides to make yourself a spreader tool.

Wait, there's a tool for that? I used the pry-bar and dead blow method.

Yup it is kind of a eliptical allen key looking thing.

wow. a lot of replies since i was at school -_-. thanks everyone but i tried again today with a 1/4 inch socket rachet and was able to finish :D thanks again everyone and ill introduce myself and my car (once its washed) more formally when im not so tired.
