I'm looking to get my gf a longboard for her birthday since she's been wanting one for awhile and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a place to get one here in orange county. I'm looking for something a little more girly, like with Hawaiian flowers or something haha :D
any recommendations?

bearing bones swiss are the best but for general cruising use ABEC 5 at the least espically if you are going to be cruising on sandy board walks at the beach I would get no-name brand bearings
for wheels 65-70mm seem to be the best im running 65mm on my 40" my buddy and girl are running 70mm on their boards but they are a bit longer deck with longer randall II trucks

Wheels are all personal preference for brand and size. We mostly sell 53's for park riding. And Ninja bearings seem to be really good. Everyone at my work uses them. Of course, they're no Bones Swiss. :)

Laguna Surf and Sport in Aliso, Beach Bums in the Laguna Hills Mall are both local to you if i remember correctly, but I find that usually selection/prices aren't what they should be at these places. Instead, try shopping online for your stuff, its cheaper for sureeee.
Wheels are personal preference more than anything, once you find the proper size for your board (ones that don't bite when carving really hard), you gotta figure out what hardness you want. harder will carry more speed on really smooth surfaces, but for asphalt, nice soft sticky wheels are the bomb diggity. Unless you're into doing slides and stuff, if you want that kind of action, go for harder compounds.

most skate shops by the beach carry good longboard stuff, i personally like rockin the mini boards, but its alot easier to first ride the longer ones, especially on hills and such. sector nines are nice, but you can usually find cheaper boardes from other, smaller companies, and unless your gf's a good rider, she wont notice teh difference, although your wallet will.
*use that extra money to take her out to a nice dinner after a good day of skating ;)
