Well, i just came into possition of a 86 300zx, problem is that it wont start after pumping the gas a few times, an basicly fiddleing with it, then it will start and then drop off. any ideas as to a problem?? im thinking something like the fuel filter, or something retarded like that. im going to rent a code tool from autozone and see what that says. but for the price, i couldnt complain... well thanks for any help that you guys can give me

I agree.... might just be crap stuck in the filter not allowing enough to flow to get it moving... Also might wanna look online for a service manual or grab a Haynes book... there *might* be more than one fuel filter!! On of my old cars was like that.....

i just got done fixxing a similar problem on a 300zx, the car would start and once started the fuel pressure would drop and kill the car, after using a scope and other tools what i found was that the fuel pump controller was fried, replaced it and car runs excelent. maybe a similar problem on urs, good luck
