It is unfortunate that Penn and Teller (as well as the gun-control types, but that's understandable) fall into the same erroneous line of thinking that always happens in this debate.

The Second Amendment does _not_ give the People the right to bear arms. In fact, none of the Amendments _grant_ the People anything.

The right to bear arms is inherent in the fact that you are a human. You are born with it, it's a natural right.
The Second Amendment merely points that fact out, in case you missed it.

The entire Bill of Rights is essentially an executive summary, a way of saying, "Hey, you've got a bunch of rights, but these one are particularly important so you might want to pay attention to them".

Allowing gun control advocates to frame the argument in terms of "Does the Second Amendmnet grant the People or the Militia the right to bear arms?" misses the whole point.

Honestly, I think the whole problem with this country is that we don't have a basic civics class anymore.
