So next month the iPhone comes out. I'm already with cingular/at&t so it seems only natural to ditch the blackberry and get the iPhone.
what do you guys think? or:tdown:

If you have $600 to crap down a first generation product, I say go for it. Knowing Apple with it's long and reoccurring past, however it will piss you off to own a 1G iPhone.
It seems that every time Apple releases a product, it is unbearable with the amount of bugs and support you will encounter. I say wait to the third generation of anything with the Apple logo on it; because by then it will be worth the amount it is being sold for.

Other than being a bleeding edge early adopter trendsetter, what is it about the iPhone that would make you replace it with your Blackberry?

Generally speaking, unless you need something, it's always good to wait. 1st gen products are likely to have bugs that need working out(from all companies). But being an Apple user for over 20 years I am not familiar with this reoccuring past that you speak of. I haven't owned everything made by Apple and may have missed any complaints from products unfamiliar to me. Can you refresh my memory on which Apple products have been unbearable with bugs and support?

Well before the Apple Stores came to be so prosperous and everywhere I always found it rather hard to get good support, but that might have just been my luck.
As for products, besides the fact my first generation iPod lasted me all of 2 weeks before I had to replace it 4 times after, my iBook literally melting on my lap because of the battery, and the iMac crapping out on me like no other thanks to what they called an "advanced-processor", I say my Apple experience has been rather good.
I am still dedicated to them to this day, having my handy MacBook take care of all my work and school needs.
Like I said, and just how everyone speaks, what I said was all based on my personal experiences. I still love Apple through thick and thin.

You never said you were just speaking from personal experience though. Phrases like: "Knowing Apple with it's long and reoccurring past..." and "...every time Apple releases a product..." to me, seems to speak of a well know problem with Apple's 1st gen products.
In all my years of buying Apple products, the only time I can recall having a hardware problem, is the bad battery I recently had with my MacBook. Before that I never even called customer support. Any problems I had were fixed by surfing the internet. I'm not saying it's been a completely smooth ride. There have been several times I felt like throwing things out a window.
Sounds like you've been unlucky with lemons rather than 1st gen problems. My girlfriend had a second or third generation iPod that was replaced 4 or 5 times before she just gave up. We now believe it was due to a bad charger that kept frying them. Either that or she was just extremely unlucky.
Which iMac was it and what was the "advanced processor"?

I should have been more specific to the fact that it was merely my personal experiences and opinions and I should have stated so,
however as Maddox has stated:
They try to validate their taste by reminding you that you still only speak for yourself, as if their opinions are in jeopardy of being monopolized by your own. Everyone already knows it's my opinion by virtue of the fact that I said it, no need to restate it.
I know I stated first gens will piss you off, but again I was only speaking for myself. And if we wanna get technical on this I states "It seems," to me being obvious it was referring to my personal experiences and not from statistical date [which I would have probably included].
I'm not bashing Apples by any means, I just have trouble [it seems always] with their newly released products. But like always, they get their shit together [again, from personal experiences with products] and amaze me.

well I like the fact that you can dock the iPhone (like you would an ipod) so it is constantly updated with your iCal. Sure I can do the same thing with my Blackberry, but I don't use PC calendar as much.
My blackberry cant play songs.
My blackberry doesn't have a camera. (thats good and bad) At least i could take my bb in the strip clubs, cant with the iphone :(
Sure the bb has internet, but the pages are so small
and sure they both have e-mail features, I'm just thinking the iphone would be an upgrade from the bb. and plus it looks cool ;)
