The San Diego PD has a pretty good handle on auto enthusiast related events at Qualcomm thanks to things like Race Legal and Solo (Autocross). I'm hoping that will help with some of the burnouts and things people seem to think are appropriate.

Parking is still up in the air depending on the layout of the lot and how accurate people are with their RSVP info. The groups seem to show up with more cars than they signed up and we're always really limited on our space.

Your best bet is always to arrive with the people you want to park with. We have to get people in off the surface streets as fast as possible to keep from blocking traffic. No matter what, if you arrive in a group, the people parking you are enthusiasts too so they'll do whatever they can to keep you together.

Every encounter with the police at these GTGs has been a direct result of the caravans. The driving is actually so bad that other drivers call in to report the caravans and the police bust the first big group of Euro cars they see.

The last thing we want is for this GTG to become an excuse to drive like asshats on the freeway.

I think we're shooting for 800. The only X factor as I see it is the location. Some people think SD is too far away. Hopefully that doesn't dissuade them from attending.

Last year was actually over 700 but not all at once. I forgot when but we stopped counting after our lot and our overflow lot was full. This year we have more space.

Dude....it's an HONOR to come to these things. The cars are AMAZING and because the quality of cars found at these events is definitely increasing, it makes my job VERY hard. The clients for whom I work have become very discriminating in the cars they select. Typically, only the top 5% of done up cars make the pages of these books.

On top of it all, although I don't have any VW clients, I'm still a HUGE fan of watercooled Vw's...Sciroccos, Corrados, B5 Passats, Gti's and R32's...it's well worth the short drive.

I'm also concerned about the parking. I wanna make sure all the iDubz get to park next to each other. Were gonna do our best to try to get inside at the same time. But having such a big caravan its hard to do that.

We will not be providing any sort of layout prior to the event. As for people parking together: If you don't arrive together then you won't be parking together. There is no "saving spots" and if you attempt to do that by ignoring the parking staff you will kindly be asked to leave. We say this every year and it never seems to sink in and always ends up as our biggest problem/headache.

If you don't like the rules then don't come as we don't need/want your attitude. I know this seems harsh but until you have to deal with people complaining about not parking with their friends after we told them to arrive together for 5yrs you just won't understand.

Also, we only need one thread about the GTG so I'm merging this with the other.
