Posted this on vortex but no one responded, guess it's still full of people who talk a lot but really have nothing to say.

I used to have an apr stg3+ jetta until it was wrecked a year ago today ironically. I've also searched before posting this but it didn't yield much.

Now my friend recently picked up a 99 A4 quattro with the non plug and play chip; the one that has to be soldered. He put a giac chip, cai, and dv in it and has been bitten by the bug and wants the same kind of power my car had. FMIC and exhaust are next.

He was looking at atp's eliminator kit because of the low price. I know he could have fun just dropping that in alone but a chip with some basic supporting mods would yield a much better result. He has access to a car lift, engine crane, and all the needed tools. But, self install seems like a daunting task from what I've read about other's atp install experiences.

So what is the bt chip protocol for the soldered in version?
Should he not even mess with atp, if so what are the current comparably priced BT options for an A4 quattro?

Thank you for your time.
