ok so i finally installed the LSD and stage 3 clutcch and flywheel on my car and put it back together myself anyways ,ive always had a weird bad pulley bearing sound or even a knocking sound from the block but now its louder and im sure its the tranny cuz when i step on the clutch it goes away or if i give it a lil gas it goes away, it only does it at idle and gets louder as i put more load on the engine but on idle only (by having the ac on or turning the sterring etc.)

So my question is...... what would happend if i dont fix that noise?? would my tranny go bad or anything?? or would it just be the noise......

Flywheel chatter. 02M's get it real bad once you get rid of the dual-mass...from what I hear, at least.

i know what a the flywheel is .......whats a/the chatter..:p . is it fixable?? or is it just the noise?

if you're talking about what i think you are noise wise it's a bad throw out bearing in the clutch area. i have the same problem on my 2 liter and a buddy said it was the bearing.

My explaination of what flywheel chatter actually is is eluding me, but if you switched to a single-mass flywheel, I can almost guarantee that's what you're hearing.

I'm sure you didn't do a whole clutch/lsd job and not replace the throw-out bearing...

Yea the guy that installed the lsd replaced the bearings. So I shouldn't worry about it??

But are you running a single-mass flywheel now? If so, I wouldn't worry about it. If not, it's something else and I'd start frettin'.

Edit: I have the same noise on my 02j tranny with a ~14 lb flywheel...

Forgive my ignorance but how would I know if I have a single mass flywheel?? Bought it from SPEC......

stage 3 is going to be single and i have chatter, what you are decribing is not chatter. Knocking is not what it sounds like ... its a rattling

Crap.... the spec page won't show on my sidekick but the only have one stage 3 kit.
Ill post the link when I get home

And yea is not a knocking sound......

Stage 3 for an 02m is listed at $619 and a flywheel is ~$419 more...

Haha. You get the kit yourself or just have a shop pick it up for you?

Either way; I'm pretty sure it's just chatter. You'll get used to it.
