im thinking on going for a change in what i do for a living and am kinda leaning toward being a truck driver. im kinda using this as a platform to try to get in where my brother works, servicing the tractors at fed-ex.
working on the railroad is fine and dandy, but my knees are starting to go bad and my feet hurt all the time from climbing up and down ladders all day:mad:
i also feel me being comfortable isnt allowing me to grow or expand my horizons
so if you do this for a living, please share your experiences:tup:

there are schools that offer lessons for class a licenses but i don't think that you are required to have one to work in motorpol for Fedex. most of their trucks aren't under the guidelines for class A licenses. and the few that are i don't think in house techs work on anyway. i could be wrong, i remember talking to a few UPS in house techs and that's basically what they said.

my dad became a truck driver about a year ago....... ...... he says is not that bad depending on if you want to work local or not. He started going to sacramento and back, he was home 3 nights out of the week and i guess the more you drive the more $$ you get paid so now he drives to the NY area and i dont see him for weeks:( . The cool thig is that on those Truck Stops the have everything like restaurans , showers, even theathers.

I dont know how your social life is but if you have litlle kids and a wife it get pretty hard.
He went to a school by Valley blvd. in Fontana and i believe he paid 2k for it and took him about a month to get his license. There are some companies that train you and pay you while your traininng but i think they take you in really long trips...............

LMK if you need more info so i can ask him. btw thanks for the cover, it fits nice and looks great

i used to truck drive with my uncle back in teh day...like literally i think i skipped like half a school year to go travel cross-country(dont know how i managed to still pass school) but that shit was fuuuuuuuuuuuun!!! like huitzi said all major truckstops have restraunts, movies, shops, etc... man that was a fun time. talkin on the cb radios with the other truckers, listenin to there stories...having them work as a team to spot the 'bears'(highway patrols). man o man! this brings back some cool ass memories. usually we would take like 1-2detours after he dropped his shipment off and just visit some of the sights like we went to a mariners game in seattle...went to an avalanche game in colorado...yeaaaa shit was tight !...hey karl lets be truck drivers for the summer mang!

I think with Fedex . . . Their l;arge semi's obviously require a Class A, but their other trucks are just regular trucks . . . at the most may be a class B, but I'm sure a C is fine. My suggestion . . . I worked for Hawthore Construction and they not only paid for my classes, but I was ble to borrow their trucks to do the test for my class B, I ended up leaving before I go tmy class A . . . but it can be expensive, so see if there are companies out there willing to pay for your classes and everything.
