Hello.
I've had this problem with firefox were I can not use buttons like
to "search" on google or even log into websites.
I have to use this shitty ass IE6. :(

Here's the message I get every time I open firefox.
Btw: I've already uninstalled, then reinstalled and it didin't do anything.

Could not initialize the browser's security component.
The most likely cause is problems with files in your browser's profile directory.
Please check that this directory has no read /write restrictions and
your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the browser and fix the problem. If you continue to use this browser session, you
might see incorrect browser behaviour when accessing security features.

Firefox does have some problems with letting in virus' even though they say its totally safe. Hmmm like the one I just got today. Thank you FF. I'd use IE7 if you like the FF setup. Almost like it but just a bit different. Though some may say they dont like it. Hey, I didnt like IE6 when it came out.

Damn, fucking crazy.
I tryed everything that thing said to do. Looks like the
best thing to do is reinstall, wich I did, and then make another
profile on my computer and see if that works..

All this other crap, but it doesn't change... :(

It happend out of nowhere the other day.

I can't get the IE7 because it looks like my product key
isn't good so I'll need to "buy" it. Have to stick with this crapy
Ie6. Thanks anyway, guys.

OK check this out....
3 Steps

1.) Get rid of FF on the HD/Software remove tool under control panel

2.) start/run/regedit/local machine/software/

Delete:
Modzilla
Modzilla.org
Modzilla plugins

3.) Run a search for firefox or anything modzilla then delete from recycle bin too.

Restart your machine.

Thanks for the help dubshak.
I did what you said and still the same thing after reinstalling ff from the
mozilla website.

Do these things stay on my machine even after I uninstall? Makes me wonder
what other type records my computer holds.

I get huge amounts of spyware virus poping up when using IE
and I get non on mozilla btw.

What I would do now is go ahead and re-image your machine. Looks like you need to.

Does that mean reinstall?

There might be an exisiting virus or spyware program that's not allowing you to install or run firefox's security features.

What virus scan software do you have? You should update it and do a complete hard drive scan. Also get a couple of spyware scanners and run them.

There's an online virus/spyware scanner that's pretty good, I think it was called Panda Scan. Try that as well. Once you're sure all that stuff is fixed, try re-installing firefox.

Yeah, that'll take ages to do man. Your right he should install a good virus scan but...spend that money on a macafee (spelling off) or norton. It's your basic scan but one you can trust not to come with it's own spyware or what not. I say re-image/baseline (reinstall). Make sure you have all your sofware and their keys. Make sure they're still good with expirations dates and all. Reinstall it all in order (yes there is an order or preferred) and then get the FF. If you do choose the online route for protection then... The only online free version I would trust is Trend Micro on their website. It's very very trustworthy. Just my two sense from what I've been doing.
