The Top of the Class
The complete list of the 1,200 top U.S. schools
Public schools are ranked according to a ratio devised by Jay Mathews: the number of Advanced Placement, Intl. Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge tests taken by all students at a school in 2006 divided by the number of graduating seniors. All of the schools on the list have an index of at least 1.000; they are in the top 5 percent of public schools measured this way....

like 347 in 2003 ...........too bad this thing doesnt go back to when I was in HS.....then you'd see that we didnt really qualify (unless you were counting the schools with highest conviction rate per capita)

Surprise... my school wasn't on there.
We always had trouble with the AP classes being full and no one taking the tests. It looks like they still have the same problem.
:( My school's not there either. I thought it was a fairly good school too.

my high school: #883 Irvine Irvine Calif. 1.389 4.800 36.600
my brothers school, was ranked in the the 100's last year, it dropped this year: #369 Northwood Irvine Calif. 2.142 2.000 53.400
My freshman class split to open Northwood, ever since northwood has taken the cream of the crop, mostly because of higher income demographics
cross town rival: #173 University Irvine Calif. 2.767 6.800 67.300

So...their measure of a good school is how many students were pressured into taking a standardized test?
Yeah...that's accurate.

My high school isn't on there, but that doesn't surprise me. It had a lot of students, and the AP classes weren't very popular.
But we had several students score perfect scores on the SAT's in the past few years, we had a sophmore do it when I was going to school there! Lots of Ivy league students, etc...
