I know most of you guys are Europin car freaks, but, I have a real nice 1981 Trans Am, with 305 Chevy engine and 4 speed manual transmission. I spent about 7 years on it trying to make it special. I am living in downtown now and I don't have neither space nor time to play with it any more. If you are interested or know somebody might be interested, please call me. I don't wanna sell this car to somebody who doesn't appreciate it. Thank you much in advance.

What color, condition, mileage, does it run, pictures?
My dad regrets everyday for selling his '81 Trans Am; so I'm thinking of a good father's day present.
Please let me know, very interested.

I give up... I'll talk to Lon tomorrow and maybe he can help me on this... Any way the engine is all stock except the electric water pump, electric cooling fan and serpentine belt kit... Factory specs say 150 hp, I am guessing it puts out 170 hp and 280 ft-pound torque... It looses the rear with no effort at all but it can use a small block 383 stroker if you wanna enjoy the car to the limit...

They all have the same body from 70 up untill I think 81 or 82, the only differance is the back window curves on cars past 76, other than that, you could back date the front clip easily to look like the early firebird.
With smog equipment at a minimum in 81, you should only need a set of cats an airpump and possibly EGR. cats are no prob nowadays with 100 and 200 cell units, smog pump and EGR can be bolted up on a saturday and swapped out.
That motor must have some hot stuff done to it if it can light those meats in the back
You got a price in mind?

You are right, this is the last year of the second gen.... It has all those for the smog and yes if I wanted to put a 383 in it it is not hard to make it smog legal. It is an original San Diego car, I am the 3rd owner and I have had the car last 8 years. I will give it away for $9000 but not a penny less. I don't think the engine has anything done to it, it has very big gears and nice torque that's why looses the rear so easyly...
