I'm looking for a place that sells good military paint for a decent price. I know it's usually not cheap. I'm about to do a desert camouflage paint job on my '69 FJ40 and real military paint is the only way to go for me.

Well.. It's not top notch when it comes to cars.... but Krylon sells "CAMO" colors.

I want real so expensive is kinda the way it needs to be. How much we talking? BTW, colors are a base of tan, then brown and black patches. No green needed.

Also, if anyone knows where to get a pattern or something that gives the patches soft edges. Seems to me they used to use a tarp with mesh and cutouts. I dunno

This is what I wanted to do to my cruiser, desert camo (perfect for socal deserts, to blend in, you only need yellow if you have a jeep so the rescue parties can find you :D ) I also planned to Line-X my floors and install drain holes, I miss it, the guy who bought it swapped in a Duramax turbo diesel, and Rockwell military axles, now it lives in the Alaskan Yukon territory!

Line-X is the isht, drill a couple of 1 3/4" holes in the floor and get some rubber expanding pipe plugs at Home depot to put in to keep out the water in stream crossings, Pull the plugs when you need to rinse, Then you can run your breathers up and inside otherwise you have to change them all after a depe stream crossing.

Too bad your far away, I'm always down to swing wrenches on cruisers!

yo patrick just go out and get alot of krylon tan, brown, black. its what we used in the desert and matches practically oem. if u need pattern style if u actually look at the design its the same 2'x2' pattern all over and if u really wanna get crunk on it ill snap a few pics of my desert camo's so u can see how the pattern is..

...hmm i might just do that anyways, ive been meaning to pull all my duffle bags out to see whats actually good and whats tossible, along with my war photos that ive been wanting to show people. . . . especially the one where im takin a shit in one of saddams palaces on a 24k gold toilet seat, yea it was awesome!

I'd do an aerosol job but I want the endurance of the real stuff. Rocks and branches really destroy spray paint fast

HAHAHAHA . . . reminds me of when we would takes those new boots and make them ask the Gunny for camaflouge paint. Or ask the Master Sergeant where the ID Ten T plugs were.

hhaa we had our new boots do everything from taking exhaust samples on our mkII boats, look for chem light batteries (i fell for that one my first day at my first duty station lol), to checking the blinker light fluid
