sooo for the past month or so i've been researching all my car options so i'm ready to buy right when i get back to the states (after test drives of course) i've always had a fascination with Saab since i was a kid in germany.. always liked the uniqueness of them.. anyways.. i'm looking at the 9-3 sedan aero.. they have a really deep discount for military members so it's a big plus to go with them.. i want something classy but fun. my other options have been a 3 series BMW, Acura TL (yikes japanese car!!!) but really i wanna stick close to 30k and not have a "base model POS".. so what do you guys think about the 9-3 aero from both a comfort standpoint and a performance one?? thanks in advance :tup2:

If u want to go for a 9-3 SS, definitely get the Aero with the V6 turbo.

Be very careful with Saab... The best advice I can lead you to is resale value...

My mother in law drives a 9-3 and loves it. I thought it was a little sluggish when I drove it, but then again I'm used to my GTI. The ride IS very comfortable, but you won't be turning as many heads as you would with say... a turbo 335

Yep, you're right about that resale/trade-in value especially for folks who want to switch brands after a few years or so.
For me, OTOH, that is a steal. ;)

Dont let the resale scare you off. The 9-3 Aero with the 6cyl Turbo is the way to go. I would also consider a Sport Combi but thats because i think wagons are pure sex when done right.
I currently have a 2000 9-3 SE HOT and love it.... I know enough other people who have newer SAAB's and have no issues with them at all. Heck my 1986 C900 Turbo with 246K on it barely had issues when I sold it.
When you get back to the states go see Ted Bickler at Saab of Mission Viejo and tell him Steve with the 2000 Scarabe green 9-3 sent you over and he should be able to hook you up some.
