I know this won't work for everyone, but I've been itching to get some Volvo's together for a canyon drive. Nothing super fast or aggressive, just a nice "driving day." I've got a route in mind that would probably be about 70 miles total, so it's not even an all-day thing. It's mostly two-lane country and canyon roads in the Los Angeles National Forest. We would meet at 11 am at the Starbucks in La Canada Flintridge (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=1929+Verdugo+Blvd,+la+canada+flintridge,+ca&sll=34.26885,-118.204651&sspn=0.133917,0.233459&ie=UTF8&ll=34.206106,-118.218448&spn=0.008376,0.014591&z=16&iwloc=addr&om=1) (at the intersection of the 2 and 210 freeways). We'd have a lunch stop along the way (in-n-out is in the perfect spot), take pictures at various points, etc... Be done by 2 or 3 in the afternoon, at the latest. Seems like all the other "crews" are having successful "driving days"... socal needs a good one too. I'd like this to be mostly volvos, but feel free to invite a non-volvo friend if they've got a sweet car.
PS, this is already posted on VS, TB, and SS. Just thought I'd add it for those who are here.

For the few and the pround on here, the cruise is ON for tomorrow. Here are a few notes:
1. Make sure to be there by 11 am sharp. (directions below)
2. Arrive with at least a half-tank of gas.
3. Obviously, make sure you car is mountain-road worthy (tire pressures, brake linings, coolant, etc...)
4. Bring a few bucks for an IN-N-OUT lunch, milkshake, or whatever. We'll be stopping there fairly early in the cruise--before noon--a good place to eat, open hoods, and talk shop.
5. Camera. Bring one.
6. Be prepared to drive safely, not over-aggressively. We want to make this fun and safe for all who are involved, and we want to avoid run-ins with any law enforcement, who actively patrol the canyons on weekends.
Now for directions to the start/end point:

Looks like it was a good turn out there. I see it looks like Gilbert made it in his "Stock" NG900.

That was a fun drive, hands down, a fun drive. Hopefully, more folks can show-up for the next run.
You should have seen that S60R - awesome sound system with DVD, Evolve body kit/rims, and a Bell I/C - a balance of zing and subtle bling!
The suspension stuff and tires helped the "stock" car navigate through the snake turns. I even had an "Oh shit" event but I slammed the brakes so that helped me stay on course. The Akebono pads really work well, especially when warmed-up, good bite.
The rear tires, ES100s, squealed a bit, a little bit worn based on the penny test. If I hear the rears break a bit I just back off: plan to get either Dunlop SP sport Maxx or Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 around Fall.
Additional pics are posted in turbobricks.
By the way, they got cops around Soledad canyon, saw a guy getting a ticket, that sucks.

You can't go wrong with the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3, awsome tire!!! I have a set on my Subie and so far it is the best tire I have ran. Very quiet and they stick like glue. They have also received very high ratings from many major automotive magazines.
