If you're out searching ebay or the SCE classifieds, you should call your local stores first and see what they have in stock.
No need to pay more than you have to.

I'll probably look into an iPhone towards the end of summer. Hopefully, they come out with a firmware update to possibly enable iChat. Plus, I've gotta wait until my T-Mobile contract is up. Kinda wish I didn't have to switch carriers, but whatever.

I'm waiting for an actual reason to upgrade phones. My current phone sends and receives phone calls just fine, not to mention the awesome bowling and backgammon game that it came with.

No one has ever had an actual reason to upgrade (we are all guilty). Our landfills are filling up with toxic exotic metals from cell phone batteries simply because people like something new and shiny and are given a ridiculously cheap option every one or two years to jump to another network or upgrade.
The iPhone doesn't allow software installs even if it is OSX, Exchange sync remains a promise, and it has no GPS. My three year old old PDA phone can do more than that (but I'll give you this, it's not a fashion item). And while my phone doesn't have 3G, neither does the iPhone, so have fun browsing the internet like you do on a desktop.. provided you browse the internet with a 14.4 modem, something no one has done for 20 years (hell, man, even 15 years ago I had a 28.8). Fine, fine, you might get max modem speeds out of it. Wheeee... 56kbps (but really, only 36.6-48)!

I still don't understand the not 3G thing.
We are getting hammered in the press because of our slow EDGE network when my current phone gets DSL speeds on the HSDPA network. If the thing was 3G, the complaints would have been about battery life instead of data rates. Apple would have taken the hit instead of AT&T.

Battery drain is only an issue when you have a device that doesn't let you change out your battery.
That, my friend, is one design aspect from the iPod that SHOULD NOT have transfered over to the iPhone.

i love the speeds of our network (sprint) iphone has alot of things you cant do/install on it. we had a list emailed to us at work to show what the iphone doesn't do. you're better off with a pocket pc6800 or treo 755p, unlimited internet access for $15/m at broadband speed :tup2:
