So, what does this mean? I don't have an iphone but should the people who do have one be concerned?

na, it just means that people will be able to "unlock" them and use them for tmoble an other sim card systems.
edit: i stand corrected, by reading the blog thinggys it seems they mean that you will be able to unload programs like bittorrent, scype, ventrillo, meaning youd be able to use the wifi ability to use a voice chat an basicly never really have to call friends in your program, jus push a button an talk, kinda like a super expencive walkie talkie

iPhone is an ARM processor. It isn't running Darwin. Having root from a passwd file may mean jack squat, it might just be a template file with default password on it from BSD/Darwin code they reused to build the iPhone's OS. In other words, it may do nothing, and even if it did, being a non-OSX system (no matter what the branding sayd), you can't install OSX software on it.
So much for Firefox and Skype on iPhone. You'll have to wait on Skype in a possible update, but Firefox? Never.
