Our lil pug has pneumonia. :( We bought a sick dog and are now paying a few grand in medical bills. He is getting better though. Here are some pics:

Special State "Lemon" Laws

Because disclosure laws aren't enough to solve the problem, some states are concentrating on protecting buyers instead of policing sellers. Following the example set by lemon laws that give car buyers a procedure to get a refund or a new car if theirs turns out to be a hopeless lemon, a few states have adopted similar laws for pet buyers. Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia all have such laws.

Generally, these laws give owners who find themselves with sick pets have one or more of these choices:

* Return the animal for a refund, including the cost of veterinary services that were needed to determine that the animal was ill or to relieve its suffering.
* Exchange the animal for another, and also getting reimbursement for certain veterinary expenses.
* Keep the animal and receive reimbursement for reasonable veterinary costs of trying to cure the animal. The amount of reimbursement is usually limited to the purchase price of the pet.

In most states, the owner has one to two weeks to return the animal, with a certificate from a veterinarian stating that the dog has a serious disease or congenital defect that was present when the dog was sold. If the dog suffers from a congenital disorder, the owner may have up to a year to return it to the pet store.

To make sure consumers know of their rights under these laws, several states require pet stores to give buyers a written notice explaining them. In some states, the form must contain a certificate for a veterinarian to complete if the animal turns out to have a serious illness or congenital defect.

Hope he gets better bro....

poor dog. Hope he gets better soon. When you bought the dog did it come with any health guarantees or paperwork?

Hey Dan - There's a vet in Newport/Irvine named Dr. Radovich. They specialize in flat faced breeds, and the vet runs a pug rescue. If he doesn't get better, I would hit them up. Were taking Tank there for the first time on Thursday. They were recommended from the president of the French Bulldog club of Southern California. Hope that helps.

thanks Manny. we got him from a family in santa ana. they seemed to care about the puppy, but i think they breed often and could care less. they were just putting on a front. they gave us a sheet saying they would pay for medical bills or a refund within 7 days of purchase. i called them as soon as we took him to urgent care telling them what happened. my gf emailed them as well. no answer to either. i am tempted to go over to their house. also, the vets said signs of the sickness show up 7-10 days later. with that being said, he had to have gotten it from their dogs.

yeah the paperwork said they would pay for vet bills or a refund within 7 days of purchase. we called/emailed them with no answer in return. thanks for the get well wishes.

Brad, thank you so much. If he doesn't get better soon, we will call/visit that vet. Anything wrong with Tank?? I hope it is just for shots.

Well... If all else fails.. You could throw a large 25+ car SoCalEuro meet on their LAWN with catering and no trash cans.

Haha, I really would if I had a dub. But hey, isht happens.

If they never reimburse you... I'll throw you a rain check and we can throw a lilttle SCE GTG on their lawn with caterers, no trash cans, extremely loud music, the whole works.

Shit.. I'd be pissed if I had to dish out a few grand on keeping a pup alive when I could've spent that on car parts...

Tank has a rash on his bum from itching because he needs his anal glands expressed. For those who don't know, read up. It's glamorous.

Isn't it though? That's one of the things that we MAKE SURE that the groomers do when we take him. Or else you'll be sitting there one day watching your dog drag their arse across the carpet

You should see if you can sign up for an insurance company and doctor the docs to show after you purchased insurance.

thanks for asking. he seems to be doing a little better but now has secondary infections(eyes/ears). he is eating and drinking like normal. the vet said it just takes time. i sure hope it doesn't take too much longer for him to recover. i feel so sorry for the little guy. also, our money is disappearing. when he is healthy, we will bring him out to the g2g's. :) sce doggie shirts???
