Apparently some people are willing to pay up to 225,000 for a spot in Manhattan.

Nothing is free. Here you still pay. We just don't usually sell the spaces separate from the units. If you look at the developments around here, the unit with a garage is more expensive than the unit with a car port is more expensive than the unit with an assigned space is more expensive than a unit with no space. They just don't advertise it that way.

One of the guys in my wedding saved a pretty large chunk of change, $50K+ , on his downtown SD condo by not getting a space and instead leaving his car parked at work.

Definitely true about what Tony is saying. Hard to tell how much I paid for my two car garage but I could of probably saved a significant amount of money by getting a place with just an outdoor parking space. At my old apartment though we payed and extra $30 a month for a spot inside the gate.
