Would anyone in North County care to come help me with my brakes on my S4? I don'thave the torx head to get the carrier off, and I wouldn't mind having someone there to make sure I don't do anything stupid. If you are available today, tomorrow or Tuesday, give me a call. (619) 227-9429. I live in RB.
Thanks,
Tony

No Torx bolt needed.
For the front's you need to remove the BIG 19mm (or is it 21mm?) hex bolt which holds the entire front caliper straight into the upright.

Oh, no shit? Damn, I went to Sears to get a bigger Torx set.
So I pull the whole caliper off the knuckle first? I will have to undo the brake line before that, right. I'm inside, trying to picture it, but I don't remember seeing a flexible line of any sore.
Thanks Mike!
(but I should probably still get help from someone)

Disconnect the caliper from the knuckle then support it with a box, or rope. There's a flexible hose attaching the caliper to the vehicle, but just be sure not to stretch it.
Don't need to touch the brake lines and certainly do NOT disconnect them.

You won't find any help on this board cause your S4 is a tip...... Hehe, J/K man. Do you still have my phone number??? If not PM me. What are you trying to do?

(head hanging down in shame)
If I had it to do all over again, I would get a 6 speed. I was thinking about traffic when I bought it, but now I hardly ever drive it. So if I thought I was going to be stuck in traffic, I just wouldn't drive it. If you ever want to sell yours, let me know. I would definitely consider buying it.
I'm doing pads and rotors.
I don't have your number. Give me a call, and even if you don't some out, I'll be able to call you if I get stuck on anything. Mike's got me heading in the right direction, and I'll be starting up in an hour and a half or so. (going running before it get's TOO hot)
If you're in the area, and you want to drop by, I'm at 12587 Cloudesly Dr, 92128
Call me if you don't remember where I am.
OK, here's how Justin is going to help.
"Oh, I see your problem. You need to remove that right there." (points to transmission)

I need to do pads/rotors.
What are you replacing it with? OEM, ECS, etc?

Unfortunately, I'm just doing OEM/Brembo (OEMish) rotors and PBR ceramic pads. Nothing cool. It's just maintenance, not really for performance.
I got them from Pure Motorsports in Temecula. Contact info can be found 5 posts above this one.

I don't want to talk about it. Here's my post in the C&E Detail thread in the classifieds.
I had just done the brakes on the S4, and I was getting ready to back out of the garage. I didn't disconnect any brake lines, so I wasn't thinking about any possible absence of brakes. With my foot on the brake (which only felt a little it soft), I put it in reverse and started moving. Hmm, that's not right. I threw it in neutral, and pumped the brakes a few times, but got nothing. This wouldn't have been too much of a problem, as it was about 10:45 at night, and my street is pretty slow at night. But the S6 was parked about 8 feet behind me.
So I whipped the wheel to the right and almost cleared the S6.
Almost.
I figured if I can just clear the S6, I can figure something out when I get onto the lawn. I really didn't care what I did to the lawn, the S4 or the mailboxes. Just as long as I didn't harm the S6.
I harmed the S6.
I scuffed the shit out of the front bumper, and cracked it right below the side marker. The light sticks out about 1/2 inch from the bumper, which is pushed in a bit on the left side. There is also a scuff on the lens.
I feel like a total ass.
Chris, please help! We're going to file a claim, but anything you can do to make it look better in the meantime would be so very much appreciated.

Oh yeah, the S4 has a big ass dent and some nice gouges in the right side doors. Nope. They won't buff out.
The S6 is going to need a new fender and probably a new bumper. The fender actually has a tear in it.

I did! The handle went straight up and did as much as much to stop me as the pedal did. It works fine now, as do the brakes. I actually went out and bedded them last night, and everything was solid.
