I really wanna hop on the mkv wagon. eh. really though. I miss my vdub so much! The FJ will be getting its clear bra very soon and you better believe I am gonna put this on every car I own from here on out. Film material just keeps getting more durable, thinner, and clarity is not even an issue.

With the clear bra make sure you get a can of Plexus! You should spray it on the clear bra material every couple of weeks or so. AND DON'T WAX THE CLEAR BRA! It will ruin it.

I've had a clear bra system on my A4 Avant and highly recommend it to any one interested in keeping their paint nice. I can't begin to tell every one how many nicks or dings I don't have now because of it. My last A4 looked like a "connect the dots" game on the front of my car.

Do you know what brand material was used on your a4? I have heard of this happening with 3M's older material.... Thanks for the great input!

I know the original material was from a company called Lex Shield. It looked beautiful and you could hardly tell it was there until I decided to wax it. Huge mistake! It began to lose its shine and you could definitely tell it was there.

When I had it redone, it was done by another company, but I'm not sure what material it was. From my understanding it's all 3M stuff, but cut by different people. Then again, there is one material that's super expensive! It was told to me that it was the same material used on the leading edge of the horizontal stabilizers on F-18's. Dunno if it was true, but it was super expensive and came with a guarantee.

I use Maguiars, but was not told originally to keep it off the clear bra material. Now that I know, I use 1/4" masking tape on the edge of the clear bra when waxing to make sure I don't get the white build up on the edge of the film.

That, and using Plexus now and then, keeps everything all good.

Chris, how much for clear-bra on a MKV with Votex kit?

Still undecided on whether to do it or not since on my G it used to gather dirt along the edge which was super noticeable on the white.
