So, being facinated by fire like every other guy, I decided to go take some pictures. Enjoy.

The pics ... (http://groups.msn.com/PowayBrushFire7-22-04/shoebox.msnw)

I also have hi-res (5MP) copies of all the pics you see. Let me know if you want a copy.

The mess from the fire or the mess from when the acid truck leaked some more?

That's what I hit on my way home from school at 5pm.

I flew passed it southbound at around 1:30 w/no traffic and it was still there on my way home.

That would suck to be in the position of those people standing on the roof on page 1.

Nice shots of the CDF chopper. Was the fire that close to you as it seems in the pictures?

The pictures of the fire behind the houses IS deceiving ... The fire itself was about 2 blocks away from those houses. That was just a massive flare-up that eventually burned itself out and got attacked heavily from the air. They were flying both SD fire helicopters, and then the CDF copter joined in a little later so there were 3 choppers all together. They were set up in such a way that one would come in, drop its water and head back to Lake Miramar, then 3-5 minutes later another would come in and drop; and continued in a cycle like that.

However, I ended up being just across the street from the burned area. I was probably at least a 1/4 mile away from the flames, never really in danger.

Also, I have a quick video of the helo doing a water drop in case anyone wants to see it. Just PM me or post up here and I'll send it to you.
