BMW's Z4 M Coupe isn't exactly an underachiever in the performance department, but that didn't stop tuning house AC Schnitzer from turning up the heat on the already hot bahn-burner.
The German firm started by tuning the Z4 M's 3.2-liter straight-six to produce a reported 350 horsepower -- up 20 ponies from stock -- through the use of an active breathing airbox and remapped ECU. The rear axle ratio was also changed to 3.91:1 and a short shift kit was added for more positive throws. Unfortunately, no figures have been released to show what kind of real-world advantages these modifications have, but it's a good guess that it will be noticeable even from the seat-of-the-pants.
The most obvious change to AC Schnitzer's M Coupe is the bodykit, with redesigned front fenders, side skirts, rear bumper, a diffuser, roof spoiler, rear deck spoiler, and new tailpipes. The 20-inch Type V wheels are of AC Schnitzer design and cover eight-piston brake calipers with slotted discs up front. Less visible is the retuned suspension with shorter, stiffer springs, revalved shocks, and the addition of a front strut brace -- all of which was developed on the famous Nurburgring.
