Hey guys,

It's been a very long time since I started posting. I'm currently stationed in Japan on a cruiser and I saw some good deals on purchasing any bimmer through the BMW Military Sales. It's 12% off of invoice and I can get it tax free when I get back in the US - on top of that I can start putting it in their savings plan now for three years until I'm ready to head back stateside. It's pretty much putting in for a car payment now for a new car later.

Most of the people that I know don't really go for the all wheel drive on a bmw. But what do you guys think on about the new 335xi? Thanks!

And yes, I still have my rado in military storage being taken care of

the 335i is a blast to drive. adding all wheel drive to that, you'll have Mitsubishi Evo/Subaru STI driving fun with BMW refinement. I'd say go for it.

i dont think its bad at all. like what "black 1.8t" said, you get the evo/subaru handling, since it is all wheel drive and whatnot. id say go for it! its a BIMMER! and i guess the twin turbo will do some additional ponies :P

better check your state laws first buddy, my friend bought a nice 5 series tax free through the military car sales in Italy and shipped it back to wherever he was being stationed and come to find out that the state required the car to have at least 5k miles on it in order for it to be considered tax free, pretty much proving it was used overseas.. all in all he had to pay like $4 G's just to register the car

tax free my arse! but it depends on the state so check up on it

truth. i have always been unimpressed by the xi cars. i'd avoid it and just get the 335i ;) stock for stock, it can edge out a win against an E46 M3 :( and for $3k get the procede kit with chip and exhaust, and youll be putting down 380-400whp. it's insane. at that point you're beating most SC'ed M3's, too. O_o

That's if the car actually works. Over on the BMW forums there have been a lot of owners posting in the "my 335i broke down and the dealer has had it for months and they can't get the parts" thread. One poor guy 's 335i broke down on the way home from buying it new at the dealer! Hasn't been able to drive it, has been at the dealer awaiting some fuel system part that is unavailable.

I'd avoid any BMW with that motor for another year or so.

Thanks guys!

I was definitely thinkin' what Black 1.8T mentioned but a bit hessitant with BMW's AWD since it's not as popular as Audi's, Subie's, or Mitsubishi's.

It's hard to get reviews with the 335xi - I haven't see one come out (slow Internet here while floatin). So, no raves about the BMW's AWD eh?

I'll definitely check the state laws. It will be going to WA which is still my primary residence. A Commander from my command that just checked out got his new bimmer delivered to WA - he was the one that refered me to the program. I'll have to e-mail him back to see if he go it "clear and tax fee" as he mentioned.

Hey Brendan - I'll be definitely waiting after over 2 years - end of my overseas tour. Hopefully it is reliable as they sell the product. And of course, something new and better might come out as well..

If you guys test one on the road or track, please let me know :)

I actually test drove a 335i sedan this weekend and low and behold it broke down on me. It started to overheat and went into limp mode. The next one I took out though was extremely fast and drove great. I still think it is a great car.
