For those of you that tease me about never building anything with my tools...
I've finally hit critical mass on woodworking tools and Susan and I have been making progress on our closet organizers.
I didn't have time to snap a pic of the first cabinet we put together yesterday but here is a teaser shot of the drawer boxes we made Saturday.
For those interested, the boxes are really simple. The 1/2" sides are rabbit jointed with glue and brads. The 1/4" bottom sits in a dado and is also glued since plywood is pretty stable. The finished drawers will have 3/4" solid face.

As always... I do high availability web crap at work so my personal image links never work... Here is the backup link...

LOL, it's not a stash box.
Like the pic below, but load bearing. I want to actually be able to set stuff on it from time to time. Also the subs are in a box so they will be removeable for weight savings. I think it'll all be covered in the stock carpet, or close to it.

Now back on topic.
Are you going to build anyshelving for that area over the dining room. (where the hookas are?)

I need to get a jig saw to cut something like that but we can do it.
Make a big cardboard template and cut it so it fits snug inside the scion where you want it. Its better to cut a little big so it fits too tight. Then we can use the template to make the false floor and just sand where we need to for it to fit.

I wish I was in the position to buy a dovetail jig. Even then, my router is a friggin monster so I'd have to get a smaller one.

Are you going to build something to put the Barmonkey in?

I'm building a big armoire thing for it. I have everything except the embedded computer and the touchscreen. After the closets are finished, I will probably get back to building it to have it finished for the fall.
The closets turned out to be a nice practice project. Its way easier to make a closet organizer than a piece of furniture.

That's what I was thinking about that shelf over your dining room. That would be a cool cabinet/storage spot. You could put up one of those cool library ladders, that slide across.

We've talked about that. Susan isn't terribly fond of the idea and I'm not conviced that it wouldn't actually hurt our resale value. How many people really want a library ladder in their dining area? Things like closet organizers are more benign. If people don't like them, they just tear them out.
The problem is that the ladder takes up space and we have very little. That box is also just a drywall cover for a duct so I'd have to tear it out and re-frame it to support weight. That's not even mentioning its something like $2K just for the ladder setup for that size wall.

2k? WTF, just put in a mini trampoline and you're straight. That sucks it's only ducting. Maybe put shelves up there?

It would have to be animatronic. What good is a moose head if it doesn't move and talk?

Or any RSS feeds. Just constantly throughout the day as they update.
Oh, and it has to be in the accent of some backwoods good-ol'-boy.
