End of the day, a few idiots decided to fuck around while people were cleaning up/leaving. Happened at te socal gtg event, not an autox. The VW who was racing him in the parking lot got himself banned from the site for being a moron, and general fucktard.

the point of racing isn't to find out which car is fast and which car is slow, but exactly HOW fast (or slow, in the case of a BMW 318i)

that said, there's no point in racing in a parking lot, with two slow cars, and then destroying one of them...except to start threads bashing the parties involved :)

My gti is way faster than most cars you see around. Of course there's always something faster, but it aint cheap, GTIs are fast for what they are/cost, they're not race cars, they're just simple cars that are faster than the average.

the bmw wasnt racing. james (the guy with the auto gti) was talking trash in our group and the bmw guy went out there just to mess around with him. the first time they lined up james took off and the bmw guy turned and came back to us. the second time he took off way before hand. hes not stupid...he knows his car is slower and he knows its dumb to race. IMO the only thing hes guilty of is speeding, not racing. (yes he was stupid to go out there, and yes it was stupid to be speeding, but there were other people doing it too so dont just single him out)

anyways, i wish i got that on tape. i just missed when he hit the first curb :(

Unless you have a lot of experience racing (drag or otherwise) try to refrain from judging someone elses driving capabilities.

Out of the box, an Evo, STi, a regular WRX, Toyota Tundra 5.7L (yes, a truck!...at least in a straight line) is 'faster' than you....for what they are/cost, GTi's are NOT fast....for $25k one can have a much 'faster' car (new and stock)....GTi's are just fat pigs that are fun to drive and own....but they aren't "fast"....it's useless trying to argue that with someone in the VW community, but the last 'fast' car VW made was back in the 80's.

like people were saying earlier, it had nothing to do with the fact that hes a bad driver or not. the sun was going down and they were driving straight into it. james said he would have hit it too but saw the bmw guy fly in the air and he slowed down. also, the guy who works at the stadium said that people hit that curb all the time because they just dont see it.

He had his attention to where we were and hit the curb, which he claims he didnt see, with the suns position its very plausible that he didnt see it. So as he plans on making his wide turn back he smacks the first one, which disorients him, and the second one finished the job.

Curb 1 was about 6 inches tall, the 2nd curb was at least a foot to 2 feet tall.
