I felt it, I was sitting having a cup of coffee in a coffee shop, and since I'm a Cali native, I heard the prerequisite creaking and squeaking, my table shook and then it sounded like a truck hit the wall of the coffee shop. I love Cali.

Nick you got a taste before you move back to hurricane land!

I'd rather live here and live with a 'possibility of having a house ending 7.0
rather than live in Fla or Louisiana and deal with those Hurricanes atleast 3 times a year.

at first i thought it was a sonic boom, a big plane or something... then that 'oh shit' feeling comes over you and it like wherethefuckisthenearestdoorway, i think i floated from one end of the room to get to the doorway

jwill'sMK4

saraH
09-02-2007, 03:39 PM
Why are you supposed to go to the doorway?

jwill'sMK4
09-02-2007, 03:52 PM
strongest part of the house if the house collapses the doorway should hold up

mike
09-02-2007, 03:57 PM
Doorway or under a table, desk, and I mean a real one, IKEA's table cant hold a dinner for six let alone a roof of a house, you would be flattened

I've heard that the doorway thing is just a rumor. I hear that the best place to go is outside and away from buldings.

If the doorway thing was true you'd think you'd see more of them standing when an earthquake occurs.

Well, thats if you can make it outside. On the way out, you could be flattened by your own ceiling. Or if your on the 4th floor of a building.

i could see how u draw that conclusion but have u ever seen a house in its building stages the doorway is constructed to hold a great deal of weight kinda like a support beam

not to mention anything else around power poles/trees and such i would say ur better off inside because california buildings are built to withstand earthquakes to a point

PhätTony
09-02-2007, 11:32 PM
Outside is fine...as long as your far from things that take a greeeeeeeeeat deal of devestation to take down. Such as power lines (lol..power poles), trees and ish like that Justin.

I'd rather be dodging trees (bwahahaha) then having some firefighting working party dig me out of my own house for hours.

My cat was acting cray as hell last night, all puffing up and shit... Was talking to friends told them and was like, "Well it's 110 and it's thundering and shit.. Cat's going crazy.. Wait, it's earthquakes the freak em out right?" So they were like, "yeah.... I think so.."

Well.. lol.

Yeah, it woke me up too. Was crazy though.

Also, about the doorway thing, thats very dangerous, it collapes to one saide smashing your body into a pancake... I heard the reasoning behind it was so that insurances companies didn't have to pay for samages for things ince the owner is well... dead.

I hear that from a firefighter.

09-03-2007, 04:44 PM
exactly, the clouds look like thunder storms down here. Between the earthquakes and the heat, maybe some of the people that have moved here in the last couple of years, will decide to go back home..............

A friend of mine, his friend is visiting from Phoenix, apparently they have had a record, most amount of consecutive days in a row that the temp was above 110................. 30 days in a row. I heard from my buddy in Baghdad, he said it got to 132 in the shade, 116 at night. I can't even imagine.
