Here's the official thread. All are welcome!
We're going to start from the Ferry Landing in Coronado. From there we'll ride down to the strand, ride down into IB and turn around and come back. But the best part is, after we get back to the cars its time to hit the CBC for lunch and a couple pints!

What time of day does the ride start? I'm just getting a bike together to do the Rosarito-Ensenada on Sept 29th. This could be a good shakedown run.
OOPS---I just saw the 10 am start time...thanks!
Location: Ferry Landing Coronado
Time: 10:00 AM

Oh man, I'd totally take my new bike out for that ride (esp. if my pedals finally come in between now and then) unfortunately, it's a bit far for me to get too, as I've been out of a car for a couple of weeks now. If I could manage to dig up a ride to/from, I'd be there

My bro-in-law just built me this sweet Trek 2300 for the Rosarito-Ensenada ride. He also has a mint 2001 Fuji that I could use. My relic is an SR semi-pro, baby blue metallic. Any of you gents plan on doing that ride on Sept 29th??

Well guys it looks like I just missed you. I got to the parking lot around 10:10 and saw nobody. When I got back I found 2 small Chevy SUV's with 2 Trek bikes on racks...and one of them had the passenger door wide open. Someone was in a BIG hurry for a beer.
Was that you?
Anyway it was a nice ride; sunny nice ocean breeze etc.
How many showed up?
just 3, Jon, Kerry, and myself. Since we figured no one else was coming we left on time. Was a great ride, gorgeous weather.

I can go if it's Sunday. Bro-in-law and I are doing the Rosarito/Ensenada. He has the diesel caddy for sale; I drive a rabbit, we are old recycled Volvo nuts.
Another great ride is from Oceanside harbor to San Juan Capistrano Jack-in-box and back. ~50+...fairly easy.

Yeah, it goes up thru the base along the coast on a bike path, up thru the San Onofre campgrounds and into the OC past Dana Point to SJC. Nice ride, flat along the coast and then hilly in OC..fun and it has the same distance as Rosarito/Ensenada

questionable with the coming rain, we may just play it by ear

You REALLY think it will rain? I'm just not buying it.
BTW, tomorrow morning (Sat 9/22) Leon and I are going to ride from Serra Mesa near Fry's to Lake Miramar, do 4 laps, then ride back. We depart at 7 am.
Also, we stop at O'briens for a Belgium brew Friday nights around 6pm. Join us?

Yup that map looks just like the sky outside...pretty clear, with a little band of green over the inland mts...'cuyamaca'...indian for 'where it rains'.
I'm just predicting there won't be enough rain at lake Miramar, or Sorrento Valley, tomorrow morning, to make you turn on the wipers.

See you there or see you saturday.

I think the whole climbing thing is a great idea... Flat laps around the lake are good for training but the weekend rides should be new "Epics".
we'll do some climbing I'm sure.

I was at Miramar thursday...rode for 3 hrs...I did think I noticed someone on a bike that was the same as someone running...
And I saw you protijy337 in Rosarito...right at the start...you came from behind me in that log-jam start...I noticed red Schwinn, then black baggies, then big bold NU in white letters on the back of your jersey...since I don't know your name I just yelled out So Cal Euro...but by that time you were too far ahead of me to hear...I had a great time, it was a fun ride, great weather and scenery.
On to tour de Poway??

yea that start is always such a mess! I think I'm gonna do Elite start next time
I felt good and tossed the gantlet down on my friends @ ~ mile 7-8 when the traffic cleared a bit I dropped the hammer and never looked back :p
Ended up doing it in 2:40, I was pretty happy as my goal was 2:45, not bad for a fat kid :tup2:
Def a great ride! and the ensuing party was just as insane! bikes, beers, and boobies good stuff!
Next up for me is the 12hrs of temecula (3 man team) nov 17th then prob the Solveing century in march :p

The guy I sat next to one the bus ride back does the Solvang every year...he''l be doing the century. My Lithuanian Basketball Olympic jersey was the big hit...the official photgrapher even interviewed me about it when we went up to the online reg line to get our packets ( he knew the history of it as did others that asked me about it)...the whole day was fun, and yes lots of nice bewby scenery to be sure.
I had some derailuer probs and I'm prolly twice your age but we were in well under 4 hrs...only stopped to squirt.
Lots of bad bike traffic and jerks with Ipods clogging up the works

nice man yea there were alot of unique jerseys, I even caught the wheel of a road team sponsored by the mirage hotel/casino. They were movin and I tried to take a couple pulls for them as they led me out on El tigre
I def think the Ipods need to be band! I mean you can use one and be ok if you leave it low but at one point this guy swerved into a pace line I was in 3 times almost causing a HUGE stackup before someone grabbed his shoulder and knocked the ear bud out of his ear to give him an earfull!
Def fun time this is my 3rd ride I think I'll do the elite start next time see if I can get to 2:30 :) (that will give me 10 more mins to drink after) and if you think there were B(o)(o)Bs on the road the bars in Ensenada were even better I love drunk 18 yr old coeds :p
