Asshole Police!!!

So I was driving down Muirlands in Lake Forest between Bake and Lake Forest, and I see cops up ahead. They have some sort emissions thing set up and they stop me. Then they ask me if I have modified exhaust and start pointing out my smoked tails, smoked bumper markers, and no front plate. I then have to pull over to the side to wait for a cop to come over to me. He marks all of the stuff down on a fix-it ticket while taking his precious time and I begin talking to him. I tell him my lights are DOT approved and I wasn't informed my exhaust was illegal. I saw several cars pass by with exhaust much louder than mine. I ask him why they weren't stopped and he said, "people get stopped all the time for that." I said, "why weren't they stopped now??" He had nothing. So now I have to put everything back to stock or try to fight the ticket. Any advice??

just let the ticket linger til you get a warrant and go settle it in court for a couple hundy

but thats cuz i dont have money to take off the tint or get a new windshield

Bluntly,
Swap the lights and exhaust, put on the front plate and get the ticket signed off. Go home and revert from stock...

I know it's a PITA, but it's the only way. Did they get you for front tint? Your sig looks like it has some.

Why is the cop an asshole for picking you . . . I don't get it :bs

edit: I think everyone knows that when you mod your car you run the chance of getting a ticket. Change it, pay the $10 fix it fine, change it back. Or know a cop that will sign it off without you having to change anything, and then go pay the $10 fine . . . but no reason to whine like a baby about it.

That's like crying for a getting a speeding ticket, just cause everyone else is going 80 doesn't mean it's right.

The only thing that is possibly illegal is the exhaust. The cop is an asshole because he was being one, not just because he cited me. No need to be a jerk about it.

I actually got pulled over for a car looking similar to mine when I had the Corolla was speeding on the freway in Azuza. He outran the cop in between lanes in light traffic. Once he got to me me (going 70mph) He got me for doing 80mph. I mentioned that just because his 300+ hp boat got defaced by a civic doesnt mean he could pick on me.

im still waiting for my first speeding ticket in the MINI.. so far i've only gotten fixit tickets for tint and no plate :)

..... i normally got one speeding ticket a year because of all the driving i do. But its been 2 years since i got the last one. :knock on wood:

well next time u get pulled (if u ever) for speeding request a time slip from the radar gun. if he really did clock u with one he should be able to get u it. if not taht means he was going off his speed limit or timing u marker to marker. if this is the case its not hard proof that you were speeding because then you bring other technical factors into the cause, which in your case gives you the advantage. thats when u do teh written declaration. only thing that sucks with that is you have to front the full ticket fine. but it gives you about 1-2months to write your story(the more detailed the better, expecially at nite since his judgement could of been confused with another ongoing car of the same color as yours **hint hint) also cops only get paid extra $$ when they have to show up to court if u should decide to fight it. if their stuck doing the written decl. they get nothing out of it which is why like 80% of the time they dont bother. hence why it gets thrown out. [worked for me twice this way] then the last ticket i got i decded to take it a bit further when i got hit up for tint and my smoked tails. so i actually went to court and showed the judge pics of the oem vw tint stamp and a close up of the taillight to show that they infact were not tinted or had anytype of film over them and he immediatly ruled in favor of me.

Most cops I know, hate details like that, but they are trying to police the assholes that make modding your cars a crime. If more people were responsible about it, it would have never gotten to be such a crime.

hah it's all good! yeah that is very true. they have the supreme power. i am responsible while driving and i get a ticket. that is what bums me out. hopefully everything will settle.
