At out shop at JMC in Kearny Mesa.

$50 for 3 pulls with A/F readings. (2wd only) <--------EDM, LOOK!!!

The date will have to be October 27th as we are very busy racing from now til then, its the only open weekend we have available and I thought it might be fun.

Anyways, post up if your interested. If I can get 10 cars we will do this. Max of 15 cars.

I think this is the list of those who wish to participate. If its wrong or you want me to add you, lemme know.

Just got home from work......
Its a state of the art Dyno Dynamics chassis dyno! :tup2:

More info, if we get 10 cars, we run so that makes it simple and easy. No big rush to get 20 cars done.

I'll come spectate. I only dyno on Dynojet 248c's or 288x's that way I can consistently track my performance from mod to mod. Changing dyno's always changes the numbers and makes it impossible to track changes.

We can (and often do) "correct" to give you true (although inflated) dynojet numbers.

can i swap wheels between pulls?

T-Red
09-30-2007, 12:42 AM
I'll come by to watch, and then.... maybe. I'm disapointed with my results the last time, and maybe with a new MAF sensor and a few other tweaks, I might sign up for some pulls.

Question: if I sign up, I want in the driver's seat. I want an expert sitting next to me, to tell me what to do, but I want it to be my foot on the pedal. Is this going to be a problem?

A comment about the last time: I think a lot of the guys were unaware when they signed up for HP and fuel/air that they were NOT going to get torque. Fuel/air is useful for tuning, but torque is more important for bragging rights. As for me, I knew fuel/air was totally useless for a TDI. But I heard some grumblings.

Edit: count me in

r we not gonna get to see torque this time around?

What I meant was, folks were asked if they wanted fuel/air. But unless they asked, they were not told that if they got fuel/air, they would not get torque. I believe several people assumed that HP and torque would both be provided, and if they said they wanted fuel/air, then they'd get that in addition (not instead).

i see thx for the confusion/clarification lol

No. We would have to completely unstrap the car, plus the time to change the wheels.
For this event, we cant do it but if you want to schedule some dyno time at a later date, we can accomidate the test with the wheel swap.

r we not gonna get to see torque this time around?

Normally we do HP with the AF ratio layed over the chart. We can do torque, all you have to do is tell whomever is running the dyno computer to print out a torque chart too, isnt a problem. ;)

We can do it however you like really. There are a few formats that can be used but the problem for us is (old software) we cant print HP with TQ on the same sheet. (This dyno uses something called "Trantional effort" which is a more effectient way to show torque although its numbers are different. So we just print 2 sheets for the masses!

Unless your trained on using a dyno, either myself or another employee will be the ones driving the car on the dyno. We tried this yesterday with a customer under tight time constraints and honestly it was more trouble than it was worth. There is a way to prepare the car for a pull and if not done right, its just a waste of time with the format we are trying to use to get all the cars done.

If this were a private dyno session, we could work something out but for this special SocalEuro day, were gonna have to be the ones making the noise.

Then might I sit in the passenger seat during each pull?

The TDI has enough torque to idle in 4th gear at 900 rpm. I'd like to see the full curve from about 1300 rpm all the way to 4800 or so. The guy running it last time basically gave me 2000 to 4000 rpm. I was a bit disappointed in the results, so just want to make sure it gets done right the next time... whenever that is.

Im sure I can swing that for you. What you can do to speed up the proccess is tell me what the (MPH) speed is at the RPM you want to start the pull in. (So we can set up the dyno graph quicker.)
