Keep in mind airlines created after the implementaion of this rule to do not have to adhere to this rule . . . Southwest and Jet Blue don't have this rule.

That's good to know, I'll have to keep that in mind when I find a ticket home in the spring. My mom keeps telling me to wait for the new airline, Virgin Air I think cause she thinks it's going to be cheapest for me.

I flew them from San Fran to LA . . . I gotta admit, it was nice and it was like $80 each way.

But . . . southwest used to be nice too, but like all things that start cheap . . . greed kicks in and they become more expensive.

BTW . . . for double the price upgrade to 1st class . . . looked like it was worth it.

When I flew out here in June it cost $400 round trip buying the ticket 2 months ahead of time. The real problem is that there isn't a large airport even close to me. I'm better off flying to NYC and then getting a ride home. But who wants to fly 7 hours not including layovers and then sit in a car with my mom and dad for another 6 hours.

My mom was telling me how I need to go home for Christmas and I looked at tickets, depending on when I can leave here it's going to be close to $1g. Just not feasible at this point and then people would expect presents too.

Thanks, I am flying this weekend...

Was gonna take V-America, but they don't have a returning flight late enough.
Who could pass up $149 each way 1st class ?...

Virgin America lists $159 each way from LAX to JFK, 12/17 - 1/7...

The problem with JFK is that it's 6 hour drive to my mom and dad's house. I'll probably just stay here for Christmas and go home in the spring

I live 2700 miles away from home for a reason. I love my parents to death but distance is good.

They'll be visiting here in a couple years most likely, but not any time soon. I have no where to put them up right now. they both hate flying so they want to drive. I don't think they realize how long that takes when you drive the speed limit the whole time.

sarah, did you check out Jet Blue, you can by parcels of tickets, which would give you several trips to NY

i did that in college, bought packs of tickets through the airlines.

I'll have to look into that, thanks Kelly. I only really want to go home maybe twice a year. If that, my brother and sister in law are coming out in April to Vegas on my vacation so I'll get to see them for Easter. Other than that, I want to go home and see some snow and that's about it. It's a long ass trek and involves basically 2 days of travel to get there and back.
