Odd whistle that is not turbo related

Im notcing when i step on the gas theres a whine that goes with it...so far ive concluded it could be two things


1. My DV isnt air tight on the vacum side

or

2.my modded aribox, theres a leak between the box and the hose

cuase i used the stock v-clamp on the valve...so its most likey the box. i wanted to ask the forum first before i start messing with stuff http://www.vortexmediagroup.com/images/banghead.gif .

Is it a whistle or a whine.

You might try listening under the hood while someone else hits the gas so you can isolate it. There are alot of things that can make strange noises on a 1.8T.

its like when i press the gas the whine goes with it... like its part of the rev


it louder inside the car then out..it sounds like its behind my dash.

im more then 90% its my box...since it never made the sound before that (other then the a/c)...

i just wanted a secong opinion...(medical studetn thing ^_^)

Do you have any secondary gauges? boost, oil pressure??

I get a "noise" or whine from my secondary smog pump in the morning sometimes. Have you checked all of your vacuum lines?

no, but im going in for an oil change so ill mention it... the mechanic and i are coo so he check iut out for me

is this happeneing under a load (while driving) or while you are stopped and bringing the revs up on the motor ? - say from idle up to X,XXX RPM

did it start making the noise randomly? or after you did work on your car?

it made it before but onlt slightly when i had the a/c on.. but it did do it all the time until after i modded the box

i was thinking of taking off my secondary vaccum pump??? would that help anything??

oh yea, i forgot to ask my service guy >_<...

but somthing i noticed, it only does it when im going between 0-60MPH, when im at freeways speed it doesnt do it, or im not notcing it.
