SO...i just contacted arnold at pagparts and ordered myself a t3/t4 50 trim kit! .48 ar housing to help with the spool. should be here within 2 weeks. it's a 50 trim. with a .48ar housing. i should see 20psi of boost by around 35-4k..depending on the software that i decide to run.

and this will be a learning experience for me too.. i've taken the stock turbo off quite a few times..and i put my ko4 on myself..but i think this is going to be a little more challenging. it should be well worth the trouble though.

ya from what i've heard..pagparts is the way to go. people say their stuff fits perfect with no installation issues and the quality seems to be well praised as well. and you can't beat their price at all. i got the whole kit and a profec b spec 2 boost controller for 2800 shipped. only thing i'll need is the software and a maf housing.

thanks..i'm sure i'll be hitting you up in the near future...problems always seem to arise. and an update...just got the turbo in the mail yesterday....wow...that thing is pretty big..i know there are bigger ones..but i think i will be MORE than happy with this one.

just an update...just got the greddy profec b spec 2 in the mail yesterday...now all that's left is all the important parts..manifold..lines..dp, etc. they all should be coming this week, or if not..beginning of next week...SO ready to get this in. Now....i've been thinking..and i have decided that i want to go ahead and put rods in so i don't have to run low boost all the time. and i was thinking..that while i was at it..i might as well do the clutch at the same time. i also think i need a valve guide or two..so the question is...is there a nearby shop that is reputable/ semi cheap that would be good to have this done at?

Assuming you don't push it too bad, the stock rods will be fine. 50 trim ain't that big. But, it's your call...definitely better safe than sorry.

Euro, you should be seeing boost around 4k. My 3071 was spooling around 4100 in 3rd gear. 3900 in 4th.

i usually hit close to 25lbs around redline...however when i first got the car back i was hitting 25 at like 5500, but now i feel like it spools slower...im not sure if its the weather...or there may be i slight leak somewhere

a 50 trim is bigger than a 2871..so i'd say rods are definatly in order. the turbo is capable of 350+whp...the rods are good to around 300whp...

yes that is true..but it also depends on what kind of boost levels you are planning to run...and the rest of your setup...if your planning on pushing your turbo to its limits than ya rods maybe a good idea...but if your not then i wouldnt do it until you need to...but good luck and keep us posted :tup2:

Euro, turn on the car, stick a small rubber hose in your ear and search around the engine bay—you'll hear any leaks. Like a ghetto stethoscope...

Since its so local, we should just plan K1 days more frequently.

They close at 11pm, so we can one day after manic mondays.

That shit is so much fun too.

little update....the rest of the turbo kit showed up on my doorstep today. i am VERY impressed with the quality of all the pieces to the kit. the manifold, dp, inlet pipe, everything looks really good. now comes the install. i just got the k04 off a few minutes ago, but i won't be able to start assembling everything till prob tuesday because i have to work all this weekend, so if anyone wants to cruise by and check it out..or help..just let me know. thanks for the interest.

thanks. well for now i have stock rods so i'll prob just run it off the wastegate untill i get the rods installed...i might bump it up to 17 depending on how it feels just with the wastegate. but after it's all said and done..rods installed...i'd like to see high bost at 25ish and low boost at 20 and i'm hoping to see around 335whp give or take...hopefully give..but we shall see.

more updates...got the fuel pump and injectors installed...cake. was held up for a while waiting on the clutch and mounts to get here. i took out the tranny this evening...PITA! ha ha. really not that bad..ran out of light..so i'll have to wait till tom to put the clutch in..and i have to switch out the urethane in the mounts. after the clutch goes in it shoud be pretty much no time at all till i have her up and running again. thanks for looking.

So was I right about the fuel pump? Under the rear seat?

fenix420
11-01-2007, 07:40 AM
ya it sure was. i'm glad you told me about that cause i was just gonna pull the tank..and that would've been a pain in the ass. i finally got the tranny back in yesterday. just gotta hook up the starter and slave cylinder and the clutch job will be done. i kinda ran out of light last night. the clutch wasn't as hard as i thought it was gonna be to do. the hardest part was A. getting the tranny out with the axle still in the car (saftey wired up "out of the way". i definatly recommend pulling the driver's side axle if you do this job) and B. keeping the flywheel from turning when you're putting in and taking out the flywheel botlts. other than that it was really straight forward. i could've had it done in about 8 hours had i not been doing the stg 2 mounts at the same time. those things are pretty hard to get bolted in there. no give in them like the stockers.

ok..i have everything installed..clutch turbo kit, etc..the only thing i'm waiting on now is a charge pipe to connect the turbo to the intercooler. the one i have will not work due to the way i had to clock the turbo. i tried to have one made yesterday..but the new one does not even come close to fitting. is there anywhere around here that would be able to make a decent one for a decent price?
