I inquired about it. Asked for VIN, VW bill of sale/dealer contract and all that good stuff... See what happens..

Said that it was taken as money owed to the shop. Cannot be registered because it has a lien on the title. They didn't give me the VIN. So wtf that mean?

theres someone out there that still owns the car but since they couldnt pay the shop the shop is selling that car to get the costs on whatever they were owed.. thats my translation on it.

there is a way to do that legally, we have done it on old cars where the people authorize $5K worth of work on a $2K BMW and then don't want to pay. my guess, the guy who now owns it, bought it from the shop (my guess is a body shop with how shitty the rear bumper fit looks in the picture), didn't have the lien sale paperwork in order, now the car is technically stolen since I'm sure VW Credit or a bank has thier name on the title, and he's trying to dump it to recover some money. Thats my guess since you can register a car that has a been lien sold.

this would be a great find for someone who needs or wants to part out.

Here's the latest email I got from them

Hi Andie,
Yes this car will not be registered unless you will
have about 20,000 to pay off the lien....that is why
it is only for race or parts. If I could get the title
I would be asking about 25,000$...We are just trying
to get our money back
Thanks,

Then the car still belongs to the bank. So when the REPO men show up, you have no case. To bad, even if you wanted to part it out, you would be using the banks parts, lol.

who says the repo man would know if u had it?? cuz if thats the case u could use this for a full fledge track car gut it out and all....and consiering ill be getting a decent reenlistment bonus this would be nice...

someone buy it already...still seems you are stealing it since it is clear a bank OWNS the car. Just don't get caught and let me detail it haha

dunno, you may have a point, but i think the guy selling it, isn't the owner, i think the bank is the actual owner in this case. But you never know right?

Hello,

I was just letting everyone know that whoever wants to
pick this car up by this Sunday I will take another
$1000 off. From $4500 to $3500 we need the space in
our shop.
Thanks for your time,
GTi Source

I got this today from them... looks like they really wanna let it go...

straight cash, too bad the whole car is basically stolen parts at this point, er, everything that has a numebr on it, engine, trans, CAR

JETTAone420
10-05-2007, 08:53 PM
i can understand everything being stolen....but if u were to pay cash that means their would be no trace that you have it since the shop wouldnt have any of your info rite?

mike

true, but if the motor ever gets its number run, i.e. smog, by the cops, or the trans, or for some reason you don't get all the finger prints off the shell..............

I would buy it, tow it to my house, part out the interior and the rest of the car untill its a roller, cut the vin tags out of it, spray the fucker down with WD40 (can't dust or lift prints off) and dump the shell somewhere. then swap the motor trans in a diesel rabbit after swapping the engine block or "cleaning " the numbers

exactly my thinking!!....

vortex already has ppl doing those 2.0t swaps in mk4's.... but an OG rabbit would pwn

I have done the process personally for lien sale. If somebody buys it, you are buying stolen property. The bank has the legal rights to the car as the original lien holder. Looking at what the guy is saying, they don't have any kind of legal lien on the car.

If they did, the original lien holder and the secondary lien holder (the shop) could come to an agreement at which appropriate PUBLIC AUCTION circumstances could be stated so that both lien holders could retrieve as much of the debt as possible.

However buys this at the current circumstances is doing so illegally.

The MKII Golf Progress thread, is the car I achieved by process of "lien sale", oh and legally :)
