Ok,

So, the Getta was acting like it didn't wanna start, just like no juice from the battery the other day. Then, Monday, I had to jump it so my wife could get to work. It started for her, but was acting like it didn't want to on her way home.

Today (just now and it hasn't been driven since yesterday afternoon) I went to start it and it drained out, till the "clicking" occured. So, I checked batt volts and they were at 12 even, and dropped to 5 or so when cranking (or trying to).

Jumped it and it runs fine and all functions are fine while running, which leads me to believe the alternator is doing it's job. I let the car run for about 15-20 min, sat for a minute and started it up no problem. I am going to try starting it later to see if it is still smooth.

So I thought maybe something was grounding out, a low voltage / low current fashion causing the battery to drain during the cars down time. So, I made sure there was no loose connections in the stereo system and taped off the end of the off the additional wires on the install harness of the deck. I would assume it is possible one of the unused leads could have a small current to it when the car is off and it somehow was grounding.

*new problem* My wife and I noticed that the unlock feature from our keyfobs is not working properly. It will unlock the drivers door, but when pressed a second time, the unlock WILL NOT unlock the other three doors.

I have my VAG, never used it yet, but if there are no lights, is it possibly my VAG will pick up why the doors are not unlocking? And, could this have something to do with the vehicle not starting properly?

TIA

Carlos

Hey what's up man. sounds like your battery is no good to start. check the cable to the alternator and to the fuse panel on top of the battery to see if it is burned. (the alternator wire is the one towards the front of the motor and it is thick gage). your key fob needs a simple reprogram. Follow these steps even though it sounds like B.S. disconect your battery positive and negative cables. touch the 2 cables power and ground cables together for 5 seconds (i said cables, not battery terminals! make sure it does not come in contact with the battery while doing this) reconnect it to the battery and your problem is solved! good luck. lmk how it all goes.

Thanks Carlos, I was thinking about doing that. I just gotta disconnect my 1.2 Farad Cap I got connected before doing so, or I'll be shorting out that cap when I touch the leads together.

So, sounds like the battery is crappin out huh? Guess it's time for an Optima...

Normally this is a good excuse to spend dough, but with the baby coming I am trying to pinch pennies, especially after just getting the entire T-belt, water pump, etc service done...

Anyone got the connects on the Optima Red Tops?
