I somehow feel that the dogs might not have been treated all that peachy cause I know everyone in my household knows my dogs names...the son was just yelling at the dogs...calling them dog.
But who knows, I don't know what I'd do, or call anyone/dog If I'm seeing a dying family member covered in blood :(
RIP

well i can tell you from my own experience 6 years ago in navy housing there were two half rot/pit dogs that were attacking small kids because i guess they were aggravated by the kids make alot of noise playing in the back yard.(back then no fences behind all the houses). we were barbecuing and saw the dogs attack one of the neighbor kids. I dont know what happened because i blacked out a little bit. I guess from what the people watching told me that i ran down there hitting one of the dogs in the side of the body. both dogs turned to me and attacked me i jumped into one of the fenced yards. one of the dogs jumped over i guess because he had a taste of my blood. i hit the dog with a brick and jumped on him trying to choke him to death. The police showed up and subdued the dogs later putting them to sleep. Come to find out the dogs were being trained to fight in dog fights in TJ and the female was prego with pups which im sure made her even more agitated at the noise the kids were making. Since the dogs turned all of there attention to me the kids were able to run away and get into a house next door. I because of this hate pit bulls and dont trust them as pets but i even realize its how the owners raise the dogs that make the most difference.

Pits always get a bad rap. Statistically they are something like the 3rd lowest in bites against humans, but because they can do damage and have been used as fighting dogs, they will never get a fair shake. I can also guarantee you that 90% of the time, if a dog attacks, you did something to provoke it. Animals in general don't typically attack without provacation.
In your case Scott, the fact that the owner was training them to fight puts all the blame on the owners, not the dogs. Because of inbreeding and stuff associated with the fighting, the dogs have developed dog aggression and other issues which sucks because Pits are awesome dogs. I have an employee here who does a bunch of work with Pit Bull Rescue of San Diego and its sad what some people put those dogs through.
My dogs is a Rot/Pit mix and is the coolest dog ever. She gets a little spastic aroung small wheels, so rollerblades, skateboards, bicycles etc get her a little excited, otherwise she's a complete baby and is great around everyone.

That my be true and my wifes dog was great i just wont ever trust them again. Always keep an eye on them when they are around. It was the owners fault and they should have been put to sleep along with the dogs.

Scott, if you blame the dogs, or never trust them again, then you better not trust any modded cars or their drivers, cus they "are more prone to accidents."
AudiRacer said it best. Your occurance was with dogs trained to fight. I mean, is that situation truly grounds to hate that type of dog?
Giving you an extra hard time, cus all the best dogs I have had have been Rotts, Rott/Mastiff, Pit, or Pit/mastiff.
on note of the story, sucks to hear that though. Really not a good note on Pits, whom already get a bad rap...

Not trivializing the fact that she was killed, but just because she was the owner doesn't mean that she took good care of the dogs. Some of the shelter and rescue dogs I've seen my coworker bring to the office would make you think twice. People are far meaner and more violent to dogs then they ever will be to us. Not all dogs are well taken care of.
I'm going to leave this thread alone as its likely to deteriorate quickly, but I guarantee that most people that are going to be quick to blame the dogs with no questions asked will be people who are not dog owners. They have personality just like us and can get cranky, sad, happy... nobody knows what provoked those dogs other than the dogs themselves and the owner and we'll never get that story.

I'm going to have to agree also. We've had pets all my life and for the last 7 years or so we've had pitbulls. It's all in how you treat the animal.

Holy shit, Scott! You probably saved the kids' lives. Nice work.
Hey, you should add that to your resume and send it to Michael Vick. He could hire you as a referee.

My buddy just picked up a pup from this guy, these 3 are still available. He said they are fking beautiful pups too and you can see the low profile on moms and pops.
