No. IMO, f you wanna get new headlights, I suggest E-Codes, Helix OEM HID Reps, or OEM HIDs. Headlights are something that I would not skimp on. You wanna be able to actually see the road well at night, right?

its the same thing (just blinker and fog in diff place). dood go OEM or go home... at least Hella Angel eyes but they don't make any to my recollection for the Jetta. And $200? OEM hids? I call BS. Someone actually jipped me a few years ago for about $200 over the same lights... but you never know...

not cheap if i remember right. to get a true set of d2s bulbs at 4300k for HID's its like $100 to $150. At least thats what I remember when I did my A4. Dont get anything over 5000k becaause you get that ugly purple light shit going on and it looks ricey...

I don't know how you get a whole set of headlights with projector AND a Xenon bulbs and control units for that price. My guess is a SEVERE lack in quality. Fuck Just a new QUALITY Xenon bulb is almost that much. You get what you pay for and headlights are a necessity AND a saftey item, I personally already like the GLI units, but I would get either OEM Ecodes for better looks and lighting, or keep saving for the OEM Hella XENON projector lamp kit. You will be singing a far different tune when you install them, they get fogged up inside when you wash your car, they have a shitty beam pattern, bounce up and down while you drive, dont stay adjusted and after a year the plastic lenses start to turn yellow. Make it nice, or make it twice.

hey mike if your talkin about mine the headlights are DEPO brand and they've been perfect since the day i bought them, they got glass len's and all they dont bounce and the beam pattern is still perfect since teh day i bought them. as for the HIDs their mccullochs which is a good brand name.

I'm gonna go DITTO on this.

I too has Depo projectors, have had zero problems with them, they have a functional foglight which OEM HIDs do not have (and yes you do need it with HIDs, unless you want to blind oncoming traffic on dark roads with your high beams when you try to see street signs that are above your HID lowbeam cutoff - which is ALL street signs)

Glass lens is great. McCulloch HID drop in has been flawless. All for under $400-

as far as the back of the housing ill try to but i have to coverings...it all hides away just like stock, no wires hanging out or anything and ballast box just hids either under the headlight itself or on the side of the fender

what is the beam pattern like at night? i have heard that there is a painfull clare to oncoming drivers. and that they suck in the rain. What size bulbs do i need for the headlights

what brand of HID kit did you use?

the pattern is same as stock, and these arent that blinding to oncoming
ive done tests driving behind my girl and towards her and she just said they are bright but not to the point where your eyes are gonna melt hahaha as far as in the rain, anytime you go aftermarket HID or with no projectors you do lose a little visability but its made up in the brightness of the light, the higher the temp you go the less you can see...but i love mine, not so bright to blind others, but just enough to light up the road for me and i love the color, the brand...to be honest i dont remember ill look for the box if not hit up rezie from genesis he did them for me at his shop :tup2:

scottd1975

10-06-2007, 11:05 AM
so its up to you bro, you can pay for cheap replicas and risk them just not working right, or spend the cheese and go OEM hids, or just try the plug and play drop ins in your current headlights...for alot less...hids are always kinda blinding...but hey your driving the car so as long as you can see whats ahead of you its all good mang :german: haha

I had those lights... they are not very good (but looked good)... i would pass... i would do OEM

:p I later had Andie's and popped an HID kit into them. Then I got some OEM HID reps and sold them. You can see some pics here: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3138050

My $0.02... Personally, the look wasn't "wow" to me because they look like ebay headlights they sell for civics and other cars. They leak even after you open them up and reseal them like crazy. Mine fogged up and got dirt in them even after I spend a lot of time cleaning them and sealing them. The only thing I liked about them were the projectors, because they had a really crisp beam cutoff. Being that they were made for halogen bulbs, not HIDs, the e-code pattern turned up too high and blinded people on the right of me. Right now, I have the OEM HID reps and although I'm not too crazy about the sharpness of the beam pattern, they don't leak, they're made for HIDs, have a better build quality than the ebay ones, and they look good (they come smoked now too).

If I were to do it again, I wouldn't go down this path again. You can get those same ones on ebay for like $200, don't go with parts4euros because I've heard they're garbage.

You should have bought my BMW retrofits dude.
