I'm gonna ask a few questions about my sons car as I am not a BMW guy in the least. He says his clutch is going out but he's not 100% sure.

Here are some of the symptoms...When cold it's pretty hard to engage in gears. Sometimes it wont disengage with the pedal on the floor. Can this be a master or slave cylinder? He also says that occasionally will hear a clunk/clank when getting into gear.

how hard is this for a son and pop team to do with minimal tools? Can it be done? Would you recommend, I just don't want to have the car inside my garage at it's my GLI's home.

What would you estimate this could costs to fix?

Thanks for your time :tup2::tup2:

I'd start with just the simple stuff first.
Bleed the clutch slave cylinder, and try checking/replacing the tranny fluid.

Yea, I'll need to take him to pick up a bently on his car..then start on it. We all know what kind of trouble I've done replacing tranny fluid :D

And another Mike to thank for the reply :tup2::tup2:
