My friend just got a 04 GLI, it has a 2.5" turbo back, FMIC, K&N, Short ram Intake, silicone hoses, but it supposedly is NOT chipped, but it is boosting 15PSI, any thoughts?

if you are 100% sure it is NOT chipped then, there are still ways to control/raise the boost. Boost controller and diode mod are possible ways of doing that.

nah i don't think so... if I can remember correctly from my MKIV days stock is 8-10 PSI but not 100% sure on that...

I think 15 is a bit high for non chipped. I just ran a stock 1.8t and it was only pushing 8psi. I had THOUGHT that above 14 without being chipped could kick the light or push into limp mode. I'm curious. Keep us posted...

I know mine ran like, 8-10 stock, it does not have a boost controller, and when VW scanned the car, they said it wasn't chipped.

Maybe it has a diode on the map sensor

well i have a GLI, stock i was spiking at 10 or so and holding at about 6-8, so since you say it wasnt chipped then they may have turned up the boost manually, but thats really the only way, or its chipped, because none of the mods will give you close to 10extra psi

Is it safe to push 15psi w/o any type of re-flash or re-map of the ecu?

I wouldn't reccomend it. Without being chipped, the vehicle doesn't supply quite enough fuel at full boost to make the mixture right. Boosting without the right fuel is NEVER good.

I would recommend a de-tune. A stock awp 1.8t should only be pushing 8psi

And a different N75 doesnt double your boost. 1-2 psi gain is the BEST I've seen as I've run every N75 I could get my hands on (hey, I wanted to know)

I think the wastegate is cranked. possibly a diode.
