Just picked up my M5 back up.
Had the rear differential seal replaced and the final stage unit for the A/C replaced from All German Auto
Best shops in town to deal with are Sam Tech auto or All German Auto, if you need maintaince done, try these guys out. Both are SCE friendly

Know any in the south bay or that general area...
my dad says he likes AGA...but the fact there like 30 mins from us bugs him...
he wants to take it to some place called " exteme motorsport" because they "specailize in BMW" but just that name set off a red flag.
please bacj me up so my dad belives when i tell him "everyone on the forum recommends them"

Extreme Motorsport used to be really good. I believe they've changed ownership so I don't know how they are now. I could be wrong on the ownership thing though. I took my dads 5 series there before but they were definitely expensive.
Samtech Auto are friends of mine. One now owns my Dads old 5 series and the main tech is extremely familiar with BMW's. Cheaper than All German but All German is an awesome shop as well.
Lon, I hope you don't mind if I chime in here. :D

Your Dad is a smart man. ;) There isn't a place that knows BMW's better than them on the West Coast. EMS has dealer level diagnostics equipment and are enthusiasts first.
I know because in January I bought the place. I know that the name is kind of cheesy, but a lot of long time customers are familiar with it so I don't want to change it.

You're right that the ownership has changed. My wife and I are the third owners. The founder started it in 1996 and the second owner bought it in November of 2004. My wife and I closed escrow on it in January.
I'm active duty military, as is my wife. So I'm not there to run the daily operations of the shop. I hired the man who built my car (800 HP Daily Driven E36 M3) to run it as General Manager. I moved him from Austin, TX to San Diego because he knows BMW's and European cars that well. His Father owns a large European auto repair facility in Austin, and that is where he learned a lot of his trade.
I don't want this to sound too much like an advertisement, but check out our website - http://ExtremeMS.com if you're interested.
Lon, no hard feelings if you want to remove this since I'm not a Vendor here (yet).

Para, hey just as a suggestion you guys might want to revamp the website as its kind of hard to navigate through the site. Also the color schemes and background pic makes it hard to read some of the pages.

Thanks Brian. We actually just redid it, and are still working on it. I don't think that I like the tab at the top for navigation. I think that I prefer a traditional style with the links on the side. We're also planning to add a media section and a customer's car section.
And I agree on the color scheme also. :)

Awesome! I checked out the site a while back but couldn't glean much info from it. I look forward to checking out the updated site!

I just want to chime in real quick and say EMS is no joke...everyone is extremely knowledgeable and their rates and OE prices are very competitive. For us folks in parts of SD who live far from AGA, EMS is the best. I've never been to AGA, but I have no reason to after going to EMS. I had them do some maintenance work and install my PSS9s, and the service has been outstanding since day 1. You won't find a shop owner who answers PMs and emails from home, on weekends and wee-hours of the night. Thanks Kurt for everything you've helped me with thus far. ;)
