I bought some used koni shocks from parts 4 vw's( only used two weeks)And there really easy to push down by hand. Is this how they normally are?

that doesnt mean their blown

how hard are you pushing

some shocks you can compress by hand with force ... you can always call parts4vw up and ask em details

That's how my Konis are, I can push (brand spanking new track rated) koni shocks in by hand relatively easy and I have to kind of help them out, thats apparently how they come.

read up on shocks and how they work
springs work with shocks

your strut is just there to smooth out the bumps man, it's not designed to work against a load constantly, but rather work progressively to "dampen" what's going on under the tires.

Yeah, KONI shocks are a low pressure hydraulic shock, so they don't have much resistance when you push down on them. Bilsteins on the contrary are very high pressure gas shocks and are VERY hard to compress.

So far sounds like your shocks are perfectly normal.

remember that the action of a shock absorber is based on quick movements. if you had the ability to push on that shock at the speeds that your suspension pushes on it you wouldn't be saying it's that easy. when you hand compress it you're allowing the valve inside to adjust to the movement of your compression, if you take it and slam it into the ground in an attempt to compress it you would see that the valve shuts faster and therefore makes the shock less prone to compression.

it's for that reason that those shock comparison displays at auto parts stores are a load of $hit.
