ok heres the deal,
my friend has an early 90's 4 cyl. dodge dakota and everytime he clutches in and puts it in gear, it makes a loud screetching sound
is it the clutch or the linkage? how much to fix it? would it be worth it? thanks....

sounds like a flux capacitor.
(this could be any number of things. . . more detail would surely help. . . my initial thought (having owned a car with this motor before) is something wrong with the belt system. . . by putting the clutch in (and lowering the load on the motor), it throws the belt out of whack and thus causing the belt to screech. . . but i'm just stabbing in the dark since you have provided very little to work with)

Sounds like exhaust bearings. :(
how much to fix it?
Last time I checked the exhaust bearings weren't too much ($150-200), but the problem is getting them out and repacked. Figure you'll spend at least 3 times that amount on labor. So it's not gonna be cheap.
would it be worth it?
Yes.
thanks....
You're welcome!
