Alive and bored! had to go to my sis' to jack her internet connection hehe.
Good news is that ScrippsRanch remains unburnt, bad news is my previous boss lost his home in ramona. 6+ acres of avocado grove (600 trees) up in flames along with his ranch house. Sad sad day =\

Some Poway residents allowed to return, this is a good sign ...
Poway, CA – For the past four hours the City of Poway has had assessment teams in evacuated areas throughout the City. These teams are determining the extent of the damage, and if an area is safe for residents to return to their homes. During the night, we had a number of areas reignite as wind directions changed. We want to ensure that when residents return to their properties, they are safe.
The following areas have been re-opened, and residents can return to their homes:
South of Twin Peaks Road
East of Community Road to Tierra Bonita Road on the North and Donard Drive on the South;
West of Ipava Drive; and
West and North of Poway Road.
View a map of the re-opened area. (http://www.poway.org/modules/ShowDocument.aspx?documentid=636)
View a list of evacuated properties OK to return. (http://www.poway.org/modules/ShowDocument.aspx?documentid=635)
The City of Poway will have information available for residents on how to assess damage to their property, and how to begin rebuilding. The City will be streamlining the development services process as much as possible and reducing fees to make it easier for our residents to rebuild. We will be posting this information on our website throughout the day.

How is the Fallbrook stuff doing? My streaming feed through KUSI was lost...
I just got back fro Fallbrrok. The entire town is on lock down. They are not allowing anyone in to their homes.
J - If I am not mistaken you lived off of wilt right?
I live off the south east section of Gird and fo rnow my house is safe from what I could see from Monserate hil road. There is alot of smoke, and I couldn't see far, but I could see two large houses near mine, and some trees around my house so my house loks to be safe for now. Good news.
AS far as intel on the situation in FB, It is closed. No entry allowed. The fire jumped the 15 near Pala Mesa. The resort course got hit hard, trees are all burnt along the course, and on the 395, but the resort buildings itself look to be intact. Fire crews were staging in the Pala Mesa parking lot when I drove past.
The Fire hit the trailer park at the north end of Pala Mesa and apparently it is gone. I spoke with some Rainbow water employees who said they had eyes on the mobile home park and it is gone. They said the fire moved up Reche and go to at leat Live Oak. Multiple homes destroyed on Reche and an unknown to them amount of damage to Live Oak area.
As for Wilt, They said the east side got hit pretty hard and several homes were lost. J - I know you live up there and I don't want to sugar coat it as all ofthe info I got say sthat Wilt Rd got hit pretty hard and could be really bad.
No timeframe on when the evac will be lifted as there are multiple spot fires still burnig in the area and the main fire itself is apprently moving north toward De Luz.
That's all I got.

The information on the Poway evacuations seems to be all jacked up.
Right now the city website says certain areas are open but the police are calling the news stations to say thats not the case.
I'm actually really disappointed in the official web accessible information available. It seems like they have emergency websites that can't handle the load from the emergency traffic. On top of that, the information is vague. They don't even get their HTML right so what is there is difficult to read when it finally loads.

x2 . . . they're not trained to put out fires, but they can aid in civil peace, and also preventing people from returning to location that they aren't supposed to. Which in turn allows the fire fighter to focus on fighting, not rescuing the idiots stranded cause they didn't listen.

Don't go based on the Google map, that is just an "estimated evacuation area". The "Tuesday Evacuations list" on KFMB is just new evacuations issued today. PQ is not completely in the clear yet so they aren't going to lift the evacuation order just yet. The order to evacuate was sent yesterday and revised again last night around 9:00. That's the last they've said; the city has not lifted the order yet.
So the evacuation orders still stand. Only in Del Mar Heights, certain areas of Scripps Ranch, and eastern Poway are open to residents to return.

As far as I know it is. Call 2-1-1
We are in Chula Vista off of telegraph canyon road right now and have been since yesterday.
I think they even let the people return to Rolling Hills. They were just going crazy out in the east with the helicopters.

CHULA VISTA EVACUATIONS - Mandatory evacuations orders are in effect for parts of Bella Lago, Rolling Hills Ranch and the northern side of Eastlake. County officials also ordered mandatory evacuations in the eastern part of Bonita/Sunnyside.
Scott, this was that last update as of 4:21pm. No lift added for those areas of Chula Vista. If you are not in one of the evacuated areas, then you can probably go home. Just keep checking that blog, it's being updated regularly.

They were able to get the helicopters going one right after another with the winds calming a bit.
We evacuated to East Chula Vista from RB so we've been watching the news pretty closely. First to see if our place was safe. Then to see if we needed to evacuate again. Now to see when we are allowed to go back.

As of 7:00 this morning, the Otay Mesa voluntary evacuation has been lifted.
Also, Del Mar Heights and Carmel Valley can be re-populated. This encompasses the following grid: south of the city limits, west of Rancho Santa Fe Farms, east of Interstate 5, north of Highway 56.
yay i can go home!!!

Mr nobody--- I live in Temecula now, moved out of that area about 8 months ago. I was just house sitting for my very rich friend for 6 months. When he was forced to leave, they were doing a water drop on his house (according to him.) He does not know if the house is still standing. I am sure I will find out in the next couple days if clients houses are still standing. Some pictures that I have seen---via Zara, I have a few customers up in that area---man-o-man, guess time will tell..

Home Depot . . . I was using one last night, had this thing on the front that allows your hot breath to exit easier. I was sanding down my baseboards and casing, so I know they work well.

I hope you're joking.
If you go out and engage in a sport and start sucking in a ton of bad air you are going to do more harm than necessary to your body. Those dust masks are okay but they don't protect you entirely. I use a respirator when I'm sanding and that dust is much more coarse than some of the crap in the air right now.
Dust masks are better than nothing but you shouldn't expose yourself to more than you have to.

Just got back from Denny's off of Jefferson in Temecula...A bunch of fire trucks from Lake Tahoe, Spark, Reno, Riverside, Indio. The place was packed with firefighters and they all looked to be dusty and in good spirits.
The wind started to pick up pretty bad and you could hear some calls coming from their radios, most of them got up and bounced out....looks like the Temecula fire might be acting up again.

There's a bunch of firefighters staged at Reagan Sports Park on Rancho Vista. I think that is also an Evac center... anyways, the entire Wolf Valley is becoming engulfed in smoke as the wind changes back to normal and it seems like a small fire has just sprung up in Murrieta or a little further north, on the west side of the 15 at the base of the hills...

Hello!
We're fine. I was actually out at San Clemente Island, and Jen got a call from her mom in The Trails at 4 AM. (no reverse 911) She left the house in a rain of embers with fire burning in the canyon across the street. We ended up staying with my bro-in-law's friend in OB.
We have only seen the lists, but our house is apparently still standing, as is her mom's. To our left, the next 2 houses burned down. The one on our right was damaged. Across the street, 2 burned down. On the slope behind us, 2 burned down. The 2 cul-de-sacs across the street got F'ed UP! IIRC, 5/6 and 4/5 GONE. A lot of the video from the news was from 1 house down from me. (the Cloudesly/Hadden Hall/Escala sign) Somehow, we're still standing. Jen took the S6 and both dogs when she left. I'm guessing the S4 isn't looking so hot, as it was in the driveway. The A6 was in the garage.
Hopefully, we'll be able to get back in tomorrow. And hopefully, the rebuilds/moves/whatever go smoothly for those who lost their homes. Good lookin out, everyone. It looks like one half of SCE is staying at the other half's houses.
Best of luck to all of us,
Tony
By the way,my Halloween party is postponed. I may try it next year, or I may do it later (Christmas Eve?) or I may wait until next year. I want to wait until the neighbors are back, or at least in the rebuilding process, because many of them were invited.

Illegal immigrants suspected of stealing supplies (http://sosdfireblog.blogspot.com/2007/10/illegal-immigrants-arrested-for.html)
Posted @ 4:27 PM Six illegal immigrants who were suspected of stealing relief supplies from Qualcomm Stadium were arrested by Border Patrol agents after San Diego police stopped them Wednesday morning.
A woman who had been evacuated to the stadium told officers she saw the group load up two pickup trucks and a car with cots and other supplies, leave and then return, said police Sgt. Jesse Cesen~a.
When officers stopped them, a member of the group said they were being paid to take things of value from the stadium.
"They were stealing a lot of stuff," Cesen~a said. "We took the stuff back and we escorted them out. They were stealing from the people in need."
Because some members of the group spoke Spanish, officers called Border Patrol agents at the stadium for relief efforts. They determined the people were in the country illegally and arrested them.
The Border Patrol agents are among 100 that the federal agency has been providing for relief efforts, said agency spokesman Matthew Johnson. He said the agents are not looking for illegal immigrants among people seeking refuge at the stadium.
"We're not out there doing immigration stuff in the middle of a disaster," he said. "However, we still enforce the laws."

Yeah, pretty douche-baggish. One of the guys at the Stadium, told a reported that he was hispanic, and the police had assked him questions. The guy was actually illegal, but his children were born and raised with him in the US. The Police left him alone, and gave him best wishes. I would consider that as support to the idea that authorities are not trying to exploit the evacuations.

Glad you finally checked in. I was wondering if you were even back yet. I left a couple voice mails checking on you guys. Your house was right in the thick of it.
We didn't get much warning either. Our neighbor behind us told us to evacuate around 4:30 AM. We figured it was voluntary but we were way wrong. It wasn't until we were driving out that we saw the fire. Even then, it wasn't until we got to my parents that we realized what was going on around the corner by your place.
Susan and I drove up to RB today to see if we could get in and grab her turtles but no luck. They aren't letting people east on Pomerado. From the freeway we could see that the hill burned pretty close to our community but they somehow stopped it. Our community was really lucky.

Drove up to Riverside today and came home just an hour ago and on the way down noticed that a lot of RB along the 15 is still without power; including your complex, Tony. The bridge was completely dark and the complex was absolutely dark, it was eerie.
But you can definitely see quite a bit of the destroyed homes on the west side of the freeway in RB, del Dios, Escondido, and Fallbrook. The easiest way to tell the destroyed houses was all that was there were the chimneys and nothing else standing.
Heartbreaking ...

Heartbreaking ...
You said it man. This is truly heartbreaking. I am very happy that none of the SoCal crew (that we know of) have lost their houses. This thread has been more informative than anything! Good luck and God bless to everyone.

We got a phone call from a family friend. I guess our housing is under a voluntary "relocation" or evacuation. I drove down the street so the houses didn't block my view and I can see the flames north of us.
The Horno fire has made it this far south already. That is further than i expected it to get. So, we are packing.

Still no word or even an estimate of when we might be able to get in to grab some more stuff. I have one set of clothes that I am saving in case I need to go into work. Other than that, I'm pretty much in the same clothes I evacuated in.

Tony,
I'm guessing that El Presidente might be heading to my street, although he may also be heading to Escondido. Once he leaves, they might (might) start letting us back in.
Has anyone seen the Google map that shows the destroyed houses (with black and white bulls-eyes) in RB? I have seen a few others that show more infor (partial or severe damage) but they don't cover Montelena or Bernardo Trails Drive.

That sucks. His house was in an area really badly hit.

There no doubt he is heading to your street. Your neighborhood is the poster child for the fires. That's a distinction that nobody wants.
