oy..... Rode my trainer for 45min before the sox game (ps the rockies are sending another eager 7 yr old up against us tonight)

Air even inside the garage is kinda bad :( I blew my nose after and had a nice black shnos come out :(

I think I may actually hit the gym at my work and spin there hoping that the AC here has good filters :(

Good to see lots of people are getting back into thier houses! :tup2:

I've been in the same boat. But now the fiane's sister is in town so I can't set up my trainer.

I don't see any more flames, though visibility is low in their direction. I don't forsee us being evac'd.

It could be worse. We at least have something to go back to. Most of the people just down the street from us do not.

It is really annoying though to hear them say "all evacuations are lifted" and then hear them say "except".

I think we might be able to go back now. I'm waiting for Susan to get home from work and then we'll make another attempt.

Yea, the fire went right around us. We are all good. I'm glad to hear that the people here are doing just as well. :)

Southwest from Palomar Mountain or East from The Horno fire?

We got in to look at the house, today. We are pretty much fine. In fact, I'm going to help my neighbors go rubble-diving, before I bother to clean up. We have a few cracked windows, and our blinds melted into new and exciting shapes. Our patio furniture is fucked, and there is ash in the garage. The fence is gone, as is the grass on the side of the house. The inside just smells like no one has been there for a long time. It's barely smokey. The skylight over the tub has a few melted spots, and the tub has a sprinkling of ash in the bottom. The landscaping need quite a bit of work, but my orange and lemon trees will probably be OK. And I have 1 (just one) cracked roof tile.
The S4 needs a wash...bad!
And that's it.
I am very lucky, although there are firefighter footprints on the front walk, so it wasn't ALL luck. I will look for some video later on. Apparently, right around 4 am, they made a stand on 5 houses on my street. They saved all five, but lost a bunch more, mainly on the canyon side of the street. When I went to see the house, a fire truck pulled up and I stopped them to thank them. One of the guys in the truck was actually there fighing the fire, and yes, I cried enough to almost NOT be able to say thank you.

It's absoultely surreal, to look out my side window, and see the house 3 houses down. I used to see some really nice houses across the street, but now I now have a view out past Escondido.

That's pretty crazy

We got into our place a little earlier. It wasn't nearly as close to us as it was to you but we also owe the firefighters a world of thanks. The fire came all the way down the hill just even with the eaves of the building. Our HOA actually did something right when they had the firebreaks cleaned and the trees trimmed before fire season. I think that did quite a bit to help the firefighters protect our homes.

We have no power, no phone, and a fridge full of rotten food but otherwise we are alright. We are also suprisingly smoke free.

The beer in the fridge was safe. I know there isn't a halloween party but I think a small bit of consumption may be appropriate in light of recent events.

Oh, sweet!!! When did they turn it on? SDG&E told me that it would be on Tuesday. Yesterday I thought to look up and call Marilyn Hanes (That lady who sells all the houses in our complex) and she said that it was out. I am on Caminito Cantilena and I drive a black Dinan 540i if you've seen me.

That 4:15 evacuation was fun on Monday, no? I thought we were going to die in that big line waiting to get out of the complex, and those 30 foot flames across pomerado were friggin SCARY!!!

Wifey and I are hiding out in Palm Desert right now, and all the smoke is HERE! So, if power is back on at our house we're definately going to come back. I'm thinking of coming through Julian to get aftermath pictures.

Glad to see (as far as I can tell) everyone is safe!

I've been thinking of you all. It seems like we were surrounded here, scary.

Thank you Firefighters!!!!!
