View Full Version : How to Paint Plastic Engine Parts.

Difficulty: 1-3 out of 5 (depending on your skill)


Install time: 25-30 mins per layer of paint


Tools neeeded:
Heavy and medium grit sand paper
Primer
Duplicolor Trim paint or Krylon Fusion outdoor paint ( In Color of your choice)
Clear coat
Clay Bar

Step1: Remove the screws, the washers come off with a lil pressure and twsit

Step 2:: wet sand with heavy grit...then rinse...and repeat with medium grit...rinse once again with soap. then dry.

Steo 3: Alppy two to three layers of primer in sweeping motions. (apply in light coats) "TAKE YOUR TIME"

Step 4: Repeat step 3 with the Color of your choice ( I choose silver)

Step 5: Repeat once again with the clear coat ( I used flat)

Step 6: Clay bar to remove over spray and smooth out the paint

(Optional) Step 7: Mask off a design of your choosing and reapat the paint steps. This is were it gets difficult if you dont know what your doing.

my main cover is carbon fiber....im gonna candy red both of then eventually... it dosent look at cool as it used to.

i would like to add that if you use a adhesion promotor,(such as bulldog adhesion promotor )prior to the primer stage, you'll have even better results and dont necessarily have to use the plastic only paint. great how to!!!
