My father is looking for a set or individual sockets that have like a plastic piece or ring on the inside of the socket to that it won't scratch the bolt when tightened and removed.

I been searching and haven't had any luck. Anyone know the name of these or can locate a set of these? Craftsman would be nice, however MAC or Snap-On would be a plus.

TIA.

here's an idea: put some form of thin plastic sheeting (ie, a torn up zip-loc bag) over the bolt, then put the wrench/socket over that and do your thanggg

Hmm... Chances are that might not work. He's torquing lug nuts onto his car and it's $10 a lug nut, each are chrome finished, so yeah, trying to take no chances.

So yeah, I guess he's looking for something similar to the sockets used for Porsche lug nuts.

I need to get the exact size, but, it's something like this:

harbor freight! they are color coded.

Those are coated on the outside, to protect the wheels.
It sounds like he's looking for plastic on the inside of the socket, to protect the lugs from being scratched.

A. Use a torque wrench instead of an impact gun
B. Be careful
C. Who cares if they get scratched, they're lug nuts man!?
D. No one will ever notice if they are!

I would not think you would get proper torque if there was rubber inside a sockets.

Griotsgarage.com also sells the outer coated sockets. I don't think I've heard of coating the inners...
