well my old doctor was telling me about her car (79' rabbit) saying it has to go and i offerd to buy it but shes giving it to me free. any thoughts is it expensive to get into good shape
needs some interior no oil leaks needs new paint and some normal engine stuff ?
any thoughts of what to do with it:confused:

depending on what your version of 'good shape' is, plan to spend around $5k to make it a 'great' car. This includes refreshing the suspension, the motor (gaskets, plugs, fluids, replacing things like distro and plug wires, all filters, etc), some money for the interior, and some money for a paint job. This also includes some money to splurge on what you want.

Granted, you can probably do it for 2-3k, but if you're going to overhaul the car, might as well do it right the first time.

If you spend that much, all you should need for the next 3-4 years is oil changes and spark plugs.

lol havnt been on in a while but i have the car its pretty sweet very fun car as well.
got all the rust off the roof and hatch. have to patch up the front windshiel it needs new weather striping and some rust. but other than that and i cant find out why the car wont start unless you stick a screw driver between the starter to start it its a nice car. :] haha i beilve the ignition to starter needs a ground or a fuse still working on it the car runs strong too> :]


and as for the doctor comments shes like 56 and im 17 haha no way in hell but she is german!!! lol
i cant wait till i get a monday off from work and the car is ready so i can take it down! to manic MONDAYS! haha :D

kyle, check the seatbelt buckle on the drivers door for the no start issue.

the seat belt? whats under there ill check it out today i dont know if ive ever heard of that but ill sure check. i had thought it needed a relay but i will still check if you can tell me whats there so i dont look for nothing hah :D

Its likely the ignition switch. (its behind the ignition key tumbler. (Not easy to get to.)
The seatbelt is only wired for the little idiot light on the dash. Wont keep it from starting.

yeah well i just pulled out one of the 4 relays the one i pulled looks to be bad its all taped up so im think thats it haha it looks like 2 relays stuck together but thats they way it was made 30 years ago its still the original so im gunna start there

alright just did some pulling out of wires and stuff to see if one of the starter wires have a fuse( i heard it had one idk) but yeah now it wont start so if there is anyone in or around riverside that does car wiring let me know cuz i need someone to come look at it for me!! :D thanks and ill have to try the ignition switch thing tomorrow morning
