I have a hard time killing with the 226. The accuracy just isnt there. I prefer the
F57 over the 226 but then again the model 18 on full auto does a good job stopping peeps in their tracks.... but I digress.......

Thats a fair price for a Sig CPO. Talk to Paul, his 220 was a CPO and has no issues with it.

If this was a 9mm, it would be very tempting.

I'm still not sure Susan would go for it though.

9mm is nice, IMO .40 S&W is a little better for stopping power, just my opinion no pissing matches over caliber here, just what I know and have heard from several officers, gun nuts and instructors, besides, Sigs have a damn good rep for being indestructible.

on a side note, my series 80 1911 Combat Commander is loaded with Federal low recoil 165 grain Hydra-Shok, unless he's flyin on PCP, hes not getting back up.

Only reason I want a 9mm is ammo cost. I want a gun for shooting at the range and 9mm is just a bit cheaper. Looking at the prices though, its not really that big a difference.

Maybe I will stop buy at lunch tomorrow. Last batch of CPO guns I looked at there, looked like they must have had 50K rounds through them the checkering on the polymer frame by the mag release was worn down! It was an ex-HK police issue from Europe if I remember, The guns had been rebuilt and other than a ton of holster wear looked in good shape.

I had a sig about 3 years ago and had no luck firing with it. Mine was also a 40 cal. I have quite a few 45's that i would much rather shoot with. I am pretty sure those were used quite a bit.

The Sig P225's were old issued european police pistols. They were not a part of SIGs CPO process...

That said Sig has had issues with CPO quality, just check sig-forums. The finishes on some guns are done very poorly with very little prep work. So pits etc were not properly cleaned, filled before refinishing resulting in the finish chipping... That said these may not be effected..

Tony, P226 in .40 and get a BAR-STO 9mm barrel... great way to have a gun that can shoot 40 and 9. You can always borrow a couple of my 9mm mags in the interim.

Wasnt it also available in a 357 sig by changing barrel as well? Atleast that's what i was told when i bought mine.

Paul

you can drop in a .357 sig barrel into a .40S&W sig without changing anything else. Generally speaking hte magzines from a .40 will work with a .357sig.

The 9mm conversion requires a new barrel, magazine..

Thats what they were, P225's the two I looked at were well worn, but the barrels and slides were tight and clean, they had been gone through, but not by Sig? The all knowing Paul has enlightened me again!

I tried... veto!

I don't argue the gun issue too much. Its a big deal bringing a firearm into the house.

Erin and I have an arrangement, I don't question her purchases, she doesn't question mine, also, it helps if you have a safe with a lot of them, that way you can add one to the pile and she is hopefully none the wiser! At first she didn't like them, or want them around, then I took her to the range and gave her a Ruger MKIII .22 to get a little more comfortable, its mostly quiet and doesn't really kick, you could give that a try.

I don't know if the 225s were checked by sig but I do know that they weren't part of the CPO program which means no warranty. Sold as is.

I went P229 shopping at ASC yesterday. They have a CPO 229, for $629 but I'm not sure if I want to go with CPO, or spend the extra few hundred, take advantage of the military discount and get a new one. After reading this, maybe I should just spen the cash ad go new.

Since the fires, we have had a constant stream of shitbags roaming our neighborhood. We have no curtains, so we don't really have much privacy. I think that a lot of visitors to our door are just there to look in and see what we have. So now is probably a good time to get a gun.

I have about quite a few wives who didn't want guns until they shot one. They saw that it was less scary than they thought, and then they ended up wanting their own when their husbands got theirs.

Im in the same boat as Ncttrnl. The wife isn't feeling the gun idea but I haven't really put on the pressure yet. I do have a shot gun and rifle so you would think its not a big deal:confused:

After reading this thread I should drag the wife(kicking and screaming) to this training course.
http://www.turners.com/engage/basichandgun.html
Then she would understand the use and feel more comfortable around guns. Or not....

I think it's pretty retarded it costs money to show people basic handgun stuff as it should be essential knowledge to everyone so they don't kill their selves or anyone around them because they did the wrong thing.

Don't know exactly what you're talking about but I offer instruction for free.

Infact, getting my training certifications renewed this month. Adding advanced safe in home, safe outside of home tactics certifications to my repertoire. I've had the training but not the teaching creds. Yet.

To those of you with apprehensive wives. Would it help if me, another female, introduced them to shooting?

That's really nice of you to offer these services no matter if there was a charge. I think every female should be trained in handling weapons. My wife has to get checked on her shooting skills every so often because she works for the bureau. The only problem i have with her is that she rarely carries her own weapon off duty.

Purchases with good judgment behind them, unlike the time I bought that ocean front property with the Brooklyn bridge on it in Montana....................................

I have a regular job and not looking to make a career as a Firearms Instructor. I just want to introduce people to something I love and make sure they do it right. My reward is when they have a good time and become interested in shooting.

In defense of your wife not carrying while off duty I must admit it's tough to conceal because our hips get in the way and our clothes are tighter fitting than guys. I've overcome that obstacle with ankle and thigh holsters and holster purses. Ankle holsters are surprisingly comfy and with my little snubby .357 it's not too heavy that I walk funny.

Are we going to have a shooting day???????

I'm looking to pick up a new handgun here in the next month or two, still undecided, I want a used trasher for back packing, keeping in a drawer, whatever that I won't care when it gets dinged or scratched. I take my 1911 out to the range, but it stays babied in the safe in its down time.

I would love to have a Range Day. Why doesn't someone put it together.

If it's a big crowd I would suggest renting an area of Burro Canyon for the day. It's a nice outdoor range that is easy to get to for pretty much everyone. I go there quite often...

Private Ranges are $15.00/person with a minimum charge of $60.00. Call the Office for further info and/or reservations.

and I thought socaleuro's site was running slow ;)

How's the pulled pork sandwich (http://www.burrocanyon.com/menu.html)? Mmm... now I want to go to Phil's BBQ for lunch :(

I may be going to Burro Canyon next month for a tactical shotgun course.

It depends on how many people we can get set in stone, and since people here are generally flaky, and their is money involved, it could be a pain in the ass.

I would love to but as EDM said I don't have a pistol. If we get some more interest l will try to put this together. I may to to go on the road for April though so this may be tough for me to do. Either way I just want to shoot.
